From current Howard students what would you guys say are ABSOLUTE neccesities for incoming students planning to reside at Howard?...and what simple things did you forget in your transition to HU that you would deeply encourage them to remember to bring??????
Don't forget your umbrellas kids, you're gonna need that. i forgot mine and the first time it rained i got soaked like i had been playing in the shower
This has nothing to do with my thread BUT my hairdresser use to live in dc and obviously hair dressed there too and she told me if i go up there STAY AWAy from GEORGIA AVE hair dressers and go to silver spring or somethin of the sort .......true.....false....whY?
You don't NEED a laptop, but it would definately be convenient to have one. I didn't have one the first semester of my freshman year, and I came back home with a 4.0. Did I have some late nights in the computer lab? heck yeah lol. But you can always make it work if u want to.
If you have one...bring it. If not, don't stress about it. You will have access to computers at HU
I'm going to have to disagree with Blutifully Human...YES, you need a laptop!
If you have one, BRING IT! If you dont have one, BUY IT! It will save you time and stress, plus it is convenient to have your own computer. You can research info from your dorm room whenever you want without having to adhere to computer lab times/rules/regulations.
Also, invest in a printer/scanner/copier to go with your laptop. Your papers will need to be printed and your college info will need to be copied. Trust me, I had a laptop AND a printer and I got stuff done 10 times as fast as those who did not have one.

Well, from texting all of my female friends, they reccommend the following places:
Hair -- 1. Alexis Gentle Touch on GA Ave
2. Some Dominican shop in Adams Morgan (Apparently Dominican's can do the HELL out of some hair!)
3. Some hair shop on 12th and U St. (I dont know the name of it)
Nails -- 1. LA Nails on GA Ave
2. Some shop in Pentagon City ( I dont know the name of it)
3. Q Nails on 14th St
Nobody said anything about Silver Spring, and to be quite honest, who the hell is going all the way up there to get they head fixed???

Only in the Annex and the East and West Towers.
Most people just bring a big throw rug or carpet from home. I got a new one from Wal-Mart or Target every year. Only about $50 bucks...
