Just get it off your chest and you'll feel better! Say what you feel needs to be said! Stretch out on the couch and let it go! Relax! Relate! Release! Num-yo-ho-renge-keyoh!

Is it possible to come across as intelligent when your post is grammatically incorrect, full of misspellings and just overall hard to read? I mean we are all college educated people, or soon-to-be, and should know when to use proper grammar. But when you claim to be an intellectual shouldn't you know that when you are trying to convey a point, then is not the time? Can we form sentences and make sense....PLEASE?! Kumbayah!
I agree that there are several posts with very rough writing. Sometimes I have to go back and reread several times to grasp an understanding of what the individual is trying to say. That is why I said, in some previous threads, that people need to stop using abbreviations as if they are texting on a cell phone. If people aren't careful those habits will flow into their everyday writing. People need to be very cognizant of their writing and proper use of the English language. I write a lot of essays and papers and have taken several writing classes. So that is why I make sure everything that I write is grammatically correct because of the classes that I take. The professor's count off for grammatical errors.

Hate is a very strong word to use. If you are a Christian why do you hate church people? Interesting. Were you meaning to say you hate "religious" people? God prefers relationship over religious/religion. I think that is what you meant to say, but I'm not sure you will have to clarify.

alright so I'll clarify the post then... Alright so hate is a strong word...I don't like them Church folk are the ones who are preachy, the ones always trying to tell people what they should and should not be doing, the ones who are ALWAYS overspiritualizing everything (it's not that deep!)...the ones who are way too religious... Most church folk I've known are not real...I like real people...people who might mess up occasionally and won't put up a front like they're perfect. People who LOVE GOD AND HIS PEOPLE, not the ones who talk about you behind your back...people who will PRAY FOR YOU, not talkin about you and **** you in your back... I'm not bitter by any means, and maybe in some situations I've been too quick to judge...I'm just saying...if you are a CHRISTIAN...please live the life to back it up! Share Christ with others...but let your life do the majority of the talking! I'd rather hang around someone who knows who they are in God and are not defined by what denomination they are or what church they go to, but by who GOD says they are...is that too much to ask nowadays??? I know I'm DEFINITELY not perfect and never will be, never want to be...I just try my best to remain transparent, and love everyone (which definitely isnt easy)...words to live by...ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS!!!!!

PRAISE THE LORD!!! I'm not sure if I should laugh at you or cry for you. I know what... I'll just pray for you. I love these types of discussions because everybody gets to say how they truly feel. The bad part about it is that most of it is just thoughts, ideas, and feelings. There's a lot of confusion when it comes to "SAINTS" AND "AINTS!!!" Just like there's some contradictions in what you are saying. See when you start talking about "church folks" and "christians" and "religious people" things start to get jumbled up. This is because of all of the generalizations that are associated with these names. I'm not even going to comment on your personnal stuff, that's between you and God; however, I will comment on mine. Or should I say myself, because like the old saying goes, "There's an exception to every rule," and I consider myself that exception. "LET THE REDEEMED OF THE LORD SAY SO..." AMEN!!! The truth is the truth no matter who says it. If it rubs you the wrong way oh well, repent and keep on moving!!! (By the way, it is that deep.) You know the word, so I'm not going to quote scriptures, but I will say that everything that we do is suppose to bring God glory. My life is not my own. I was bought with a price. I am a debtor to Christ. I'm suppose to tell people about the goodness of the Lord. I'm suppose to tell people about how the Lord saved me and how he changed me and how he can do the same for them. I'm supposed to let people know that Jesus loves them and died on the cross for them so that they don't have to go to hell. Everyday that I live is a battle for my salvation. It's about Heaven or hell for me. For every choice you make it will either bring you closer to God or closer to the devil. Don't get me wrong, I let my light so shine, but I am also a fisher of men (women, boy & girl.) I don't believe in once saved always saved. Or we all fall down, we all get up, we all fall down, etc. I serve a God that will keep you from falling. I serve a God that will give you a way out from any temptation. I am seeking perfection in Christ, because I know that God is perfecting the work that he has begun in me. Jesus is coming back for a people without a spot or a wrinkle. That's going to be me!!! I not going to hell just because I want to do things my way. When I got saved, my mind was made up. I totally surrendered myself to God and let him be in control of my life. I don't just read my bible to see who messed up, so that I can justify my sins. I read my bible so that I can learn what God expects. I want to know what pleases and displeases God. I don't worry about people, because they don't have a Heaven or hell to put me in. As long as God is pleased with me that's all that matters. Plus I make sure that I'm decent to my enemies so that I don't have to answer to God for them, they'll just have to answer to God for how they treated me. It's like I tell my daughter all the time, "you better not go to bed with anything against me and not take the time to get it straight, because if you die, when you do open your eyes you will be in hell!!!" OH YEAH, I TAKE MY SALVATION VERY SERIOUSLY AND DON'T CARE WHO KNOWS IT!!!

Sister Tamara said everything well. I haven't been on HBCU Connect in a while and I'm just reading your post. To say you don't like church people is odd to me being that you are a Christian. The people that you have come across that you said were "preachy" might have been people that are full of the Word of God. Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh. I know that I just can't help to give people the word of God or point them in the right direction because I'm full of God's word. I also am not ashamed of the Gospel and will tell the whole world how I love Jesus and how he has done so much for me. As the scripture says, I will not let a rock cry out in my praise! Jesus said to assemble yourselves with other believers and a Church is where you are going to find most believers. For you to say you don't like "church people" doesn't make any sense. Also, it says in Proverbs that there is wisdom in the multitude of counsel. Brothers and sisters in Christ are supposed to correct their brother/sister in Christ if they have error in their ways. 1Thessalonians and 2Thessalonians are some wonderful books in the bible to read on this subject about correcting brothers/sisters in Christ. They are short chapters but they are some powerful scriptures. So those people that you are considering "preachy" might be the best thing you have in your life if they are giving you God's word. God's word is the truth whether you like it or not. Jesus said for those that have ears let them hear. You don't ever lean to your own understanding but to everything that proceedeth out of the mouth of the Lord, or you could say his Word. God is smarter than you, so don't ever trust yourself over his Word. Let his word be the final authority in your life. Have you thought about that you might feel convicted? Sometimes people get mad at Christians because they feel convicted about their ways. Not that I'm judging you because that is between you and God but there appears to be some bitterness that is there that only you and God know. Also, don't be so concerned about what others are doing just make sure that you are blameless before the Lord. It is you that will have to stand before the Lord and he's not concerned about how you view other Christians and what you think they are doing. Or as you put it, "being hypocritical" but just make sure that you aren't that. You just be concerned about being the "REAL" Christian. Also, you stated that you will never be perfect but actually you are as close to being perfect as you can be if you accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior. He is what makes you perfect before God. You aren't perfect in yourself but Jesus is! He is your advocate with the Father. After you know these things you still need to do what is right to please the Father in the natural and that is living a Holy life and a quiet life. Just Read 1Thessalonians and 2Thessalonians it explains it way better than I can.

I think I was a little misunderstood, and it is fine, I dont think that I will ever clear up the post I made, so its cool... I love God just as much as you guys, if not more!!! I was just making a comment on how some of the so called "religious" people are the ones who are hypocrites at time...when i was talking about the preachy people, i wasnt talking about the people who are well versed in the word of God, because then I would be talking about myself! I know I definitely try to help people out and minister when God puts it on my heart to, so please don't get it twisted! I say that I dont care for church people...I am not literally talking about EVERYONE who goes to a church building to worship...i am talking about the ones who are in the church but not living it, thats what I meant by "Church folk" (in loose terms anyway)...yes, I have seen alot growing up as a preacher's kid, so I tend to hold on to my faith in God more than people...I grew up in a crazy church environment in which most of the kids I grew up in church with dont even go to church anymore as a result of what we saw...and that makes me sad, I want to tell them that God loves them despite all the craziness we saw growing up and that God is SOOO much bigger than that! I'm just saying I don't know if people realize it, but some are so over religious and over spiritual that they tend to be a turn off for those who are not saved! I just was stating how I felt, and how I can relate to people who are "REAL"...people who are not afraid to be transparent in their walk with God, who are not going to put up a front and act as if they can do no wrong but who are going to share the love of Christ with everyone they come in contact with without having to say a word! I've been around people who talk the talk, but when it came down to it, they could not walk the walk. That annoys the heck outta me, but I just pray for them! The people who have ministered to me the most have been the people I can confide in, the people who are not talkin about God every 30 seconds lol, if that makes sense...I guess I can't get judgemental because some people have that call of evangelism on their lives, so if it comes off that way, I apologize! Sometimes I wish "church folk" would realize that instead of trying to shove Jesus down people's throats, they should let their walk do the talking...that is so much more powerful! Then again, everyone ministers differently, so I dunno...I guess all I really can do is do what God's put me on this earth to do and forget about everyone else and what they're doing... Like I said, I dont think what I said will ever be understood, so I'm going to leave it at this...I love God and I am not concerned about how I look towards the eyes of others (as far as other Christians go), I may not be as OUTSPOKEN as the rest about it, but I know who I am in God and know that in myself, I will never be perfect, but thank God Jesus is!!!!! I know that my purpose here on earth is to bring glory to GOD, and I can do that without constantly having to feel like I have to "prove" it...*shrugs*

I actually understand exactly where you are coming from with the original post and this one. While ministering to people is to be done there are certain ways to conduct yourself. And as she said dont rebuke them or shove it down their throat tell them about who God is what he had done and cappable of doing teach them dont lift your self up in a self righteous manner to put them down because they dont understand thoroghly as you..and have an holier than though attitude. Some church people dont understand that. The hypocrites of the church is a different story....not every one you see quoting scripture and speaking in tounges are true christians. Oh and another thing judge not less ye be judged (i think thats what is said) "church people" notice the quotation seem to love judging people on the outward appearance if someone dresses a certain way they have to be a heathen, ****, ****, or what ever the case its not true. A prime example i experienced a couple of weeks ago. While outside with some friends just chilling and talking after practicing a praise dance....a car blasting rap music was driving by then stopped right in front of us. The boy came out big t shirt, baggy shorts, gold teeth, and braids and asked us... do yall know jesus christ....we said yes...and he was like no really do you.... we said yes...and he made us listen to the rap music in his car which was actually his gospel rap and he just began ministering to us...then he drove off...another lesson to show dont judge a book by its cover.
