I know I’m jumping on this bandwagon a bit late. But… I’m jumping on. Tonia I understand why you wrote your e. I’m with you that if you don’t know your history it does seem as if all blacks are democrats. Jamica Shawty, after reading Tonia’s e I don’t view it as a rip on the democratic party. It’s just a little something to think about. Shawty this is America and a lot of people died so that we can select a party and vote on the issues. Selecting a party to support is a part of the voting process here. The decision must come after you’ve done your homework. And I mean do your homework everybody. I’m not talking about just listening to the nightly news either. I’m talking about finding out what is the mission of each party Republican, Democrat, Independent etc. Jamacian Shawty once you break that point that you talked about. Which is a level of success only hard working people achieve. Do you want to be heavily taxed? Because that’s one of the things the democrats are known for. My problem that I have with that party (or any party) is they’re always proposing tax increase. I am tired of working and achieving my goals only for some government entity to take it away from me in taxes. Take a look at the times they’ve been in office in the pass and since they’ve taken control over the congress. How many times increase taxes has been the topic of discussion with them? Not to mention that they want to resend the tax cuts and breaks that are currently in effect. I’m tired of it. You’ll see Shawty. It seems as if we (americans) are penalized for working hard and becoming successful. I start asking myself “Who is behind these tax increases?” “Whose responsible for these increase tax ideas?” I shouldn’t have to be penalized for carving out a successful life for myself. If it’s a matter of helping the needy we (Americans) do that everyday all day. Maybe some of the needy might want to start helping themselves by hard work. As for Ms. Rice, you (rkfl2004) may not agree with her political beliefs but you CANNOT refute her accomplishments. ****. of State Condoleezza Rice completed high school at 15. She received her bachelors degree at 19 (with honors). Went on to Notre Dame for her Master and completed her Doctorate at Univ. of Denver. Voted by Forbes magazine the most powerful woman in 2005 and the second most powerful woman in 2006. She’s the first African American woman appointed ****. of State. Not to mention she is an accomplished concert pianist. This is only a few of her accomplishments. She did exactly what Shawty was talking about “hard work.” But yet because of her political beliefs she’s labeled a sellout! Go figure! Yeah right do the opposite. The opposite of Ms Rice is failure and ignorance.

^^^^^ I understand what ur saying completely but you no after dividing out each party and their various flaws to me its a loose loose situation either way we go there is going to be decisions made we dont like....to be honest im on no side but i can only go on what the people i see representing the party so far are doing...... lol and Ms. Rice shes a hell of a woman when it comes to power but i think why we view her as a sell out is because shes siding with bush who many of us loathe......but i know for myself i dont denounce what she stands for its who she sides with especially on issues we no are not right but newho.....i dont care what party is in office just DO THE JOB RIGHT AND EFFECTIVELY...

Honestly Enlightening I'd rather not waste my time responding to you because this is an argument that could go on for a very long time. However, since you called me out I guess I'll miss a few minutes of Run's House for this...sigh... Now First of all, I never REFUTED any one's accomplishments. I'm well aware of what Ms Rice has and HAS NOT done. I did not need that synopsis. Thank you very much. Anyway, I simply put her accomplishments in perspective. She had a VERY privileged upbringing (relative to other black females of her times) and for that reason I'M NOT IMPRESSED..point blank and I'm not apologizing for that. To whom much is given much is expected. Secondly, I DO NOT label Ms. Rice as a sellout because of her political beliefs. What ..do you think I label every black Republican as a sellout? I label her a sellout because as the first African American female Secretary of State I would have expected her to attempt to set an example by not forgetting where she came from. However, in times of crisis like **** Katrina she made it quite obvious that her desire to shield her boss took priority over her need to speak out against the callous indifference and blatant disregard shown for the lives of her brothas and sistas. And as for doing the opposite of Ms. Rice? I say that means being true to yourself and your heritage...you say...well I don't really care what you say. Finished now.

Many of us feel the same way when it comes to the general government. The thing I look at when viewing each candidate is how he/she voted on the issues. Now that we have the Internet and Cable/Satellite TV we can always find out the voting history of politicians. Jamaican Shawty, I don’t agree with everything my party or any party does. Another great point about our voting process is that we can vote across party lines. If there is a candidate(s) in another party that has the track record of voting according to your beliefs than you can cross party lines and vote for him/her. We are coming into an election year that is very important. The main thing that I tell everyone is to “do your homework.” You’re not going to get true answers by listening to the candidate debate, their campaign ads and the nightly news (believe it or not). These people have been in politics longer than some us have been on this earth. They know what to say and how to say it. However, they have a voting track record. Google them and see what they were up to before putting their hat in the ring for this major political office. I don’t know if this will help Shawty but I know when I’m trying to sort through this lying mess of politics (Which it is!). One of the most important things to me is my freedom. I start by looking for the candidate(s) (not the party) that will not implement social laws/programs, tax increases and hinder my freedom of religious beliefs. The increase in social laws/programs is the beginning of socialism and the end result is government control. Hi rkfl2004 I’d like for you to try the following on the next business day: Try going to your job tomorrow (Monday) and taking it upon yourself to step into the position of your company’s CEO. After you’ve tried that, then try taking it upon yourself to step into the regional managers position. And then try stepping into your district managers position. Exactly…it is not going to happen. You do not have the authority to do so. What you are requesting the ****. Of State office to do will not happen. That office does not have the authority to do so. That office does not have the authority to skip over the Vice President, the Commander and Chef/President, two elected offices Governor Blanco and Mayor Nagin and (a government agency) Home Land Securities. Our Government is not set up that way. What ever happen to Introduction to Government/Government 101? The responsibility starts at the local level. The responsibility of Katrina started with the Mayors office and guess what the people re-elected him and the last time I checked…that Governor was still in office too. But yet the people want to blame the office of the president and let’s not forget the office of Secretary Of State. Boy!…that is some kind of political spin!.

This is pointless, no post on any forum is going to change peoples minds about what political party they want to be apart of.

^^^^ ummm...nooo...actually some people aren't stubborn and don't blindly follow their party or some people just follow a party out of habit not really conviction so when confronted with its wrongdoings there is the possibility they WILL change their minds.
