Hey Im new to HBCUCONNECt. Im going to be a junior in highschool this year and I starting to decide what college I want to go to. Howard is on the top of my list but Im from North Carolina and I dont want to feel home sick. My grades are decent, I maintain a 3.1 grade point average but Im still undecided. I have absolutely no idea. I think it was made a requirement because the stereotype is that most Black folks can't swim...*shrugs*...I dont know...

And I also heard it's because the College of Arts and Sciences prides itself on making sure their curriculum is well-rounded and that its students are exposed to diverse standards that may be needed in all aspects of life (or something of that nature lol). So i guess they require swimming for their students to have them acquire a skill that may help them at some point or another down the line. I hear the class isn't that bad tho...well, unless you have an extreme fear of water lol. I haven't heard of any deaths tho, so it can't be that bad. It's shallow as i don't know what, but that swimming requirement made it REALLY easy for me to decide on the School of C lol.

I'm a Junior in highchool too and I'm really considering Howard because of all the good things I've heard about it. What are you thinking about majoring in? I'm so excited about going to college lol, time isn't going fast enough. Also, does anyone know about any of the graphic design programs they have at Howard?? And also if you go to Howard now how would you rate it, like academic and social wise? And also about the car thing, is it hard to find places to park if you're a freshman? Ahh I have so many questions lol

Im not too familiar with the graphic design major and the Art Department, but maybe you can get some info here: HU.ART - Howard University Art Department I no longer attend Howard, but I am a graduate. I rate Howard's social life a perfect 10...I feel that I received a solid and challenging education, however we could do better academically so I rate it a 9. Feel free to ask more questions!
