*nod* Yeah! I thought it would be nice to get away from North Carolina, and I've heard nothing but great things about FAMU. And since I've grown up in mostly white schools, it'll be nice to just be a girl instead of a "black girl," you know? And teachers will probably take me a little more seriously instead of waiting until I trounce all of their "star students" before they will actually listen to me.

I wonder if any National Achievement Semifinalist get selected as finalists if their SAT scores are not close to their PSATs? I know that the score you get on the PSAT is supposed to be a tenth of what you should expect to get on the SAT, but when I took that {super hard} SAT my score was about 50 points lower than it should've been. So I'm wondering if anybody knows if I have a chance of still being a finalist, because I would love to receive that Howard Laureate scholarship.......

I dunno...I was thinking that it was mostly based off of your PSAT, but since you had to send your SAT scores in as soon as you could, that probably plays a large role as well. But it ALL factors in for the Laureate, doesn't it? If your PSAT, SAT, High School Career, etc all balance out, then you still have a good chance.

I don't think alot of people did as well on there SAT's as they did on the PSAT's (including me)... but It is a factor of all the things (transcripts, essay, recommendations) so ... I would not say that hope is lost..

LoL... Thanks much... RF! I'm going... At first I was mad they pushed the date back...because I would have been able to go up there for the weekend then stay that Monday and Tuesday for Jack and Jill's annual Up the Hill on Washington... But when they pushed the date back i thought that I wasnt going to be able to go to the Up the Hill...but fortunately the chapter agreed to pay my air fare..so now i can go to both!

I was in the top 10% of African Americans and got a special recommendation ... but I was kida upset I didn't qualify as a finalist or anything but I mean bein in the 86 percentile is an amazing accomplishment esp for a black woman so I'm content
