All right, I know this question has been beaten to death but since I'm a New Yorker and all I know about sororities is what I've seen from School Daze, can someone tell me which sorority is best for me? I'm looking for a non-Christian based organization. Nothing against Christians, but since I'm not one, I would like a sorority that best reflects my beliefs. Ooh, and can someone also tell me which HBCU has a good study-abroad program? I'm planning to have a major in Biological Chemistry as well as a minor in Asian Studies. I have my eyes on these four schools: Tulane, Howard, Clark-Atlanta and Emory. Thanx for ur consideration and time!
I was considering Spelman, but I'm kind of used to general tide of co-ed schools.
Spelman is part of the world’s largest consortium of historically Black colleges, which includes Spelman College, Morehouse College, Clark Atlanta University, the Interdenominational Theological Center, and Morehouse School of Medicine. You will have the advantage of undergraduate cross-registration with these partner institutions. Therefore, its possible to have a co-ed environment.
To my knowledge it’s unaccredited, but making progress toward reaccredidation. I am not sure about the details. Therefore, it’s not currently apart of the Atlanta University Center. I hope Morris Brown will return to financial stability in the near future. I am definitely cheering for them.
AHHHHHHHH.....I'm tried of people talking about greek organizations as if they are some secret Skull and Bones society!!
As a freshman, planning to transfer to an HBCU, I am too. I can only imagine why people make it appear as another Skull and Bones society (it's refreshing to find another one aware of Skull and Bones). But my big thing is, I have friends who are planning to go to HBCU schools expecting to join sororities and fraternities based on what they see on T.V. and in the movie theatres. It's all Hollywood to them, and so right now I'm trying to learn so that they could too. Each one, teach one.

I say...Ask on.
But there is no winning with some people...
If you don't know, then you ask...but people get mad at you for asking and say BE DISCRETE!!! (Which is one concept I can't quite understand...but that is another discussion)
If you don't know, and you don't ask...then you don't know..and then you could eff things up later on cause you didn't know...
It's pretty lose-lose.
