I am a senior in high school and i am interested in Hampton. I have a few questions for students who currently attend Hampton or people who have graduated from Hampton.
1. How is the campus?
2. How are the dorms?
3. How is the social aspect?
4. How is the academic aspect?
5. What is there to do in your free time?
6. I want to major in Accounting or Mathematics, so I was wondering if anyone could tell me about those majors and how the classes are.
And any other information would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
errmm...okay lol
Homecoming:
Very eventful. Hampton is generally pretty quiet monday thru friday so its definately exciting to see so many people on campus. Classes end early that friday of homecoming weekend because harvey knows that nobody with anytype of a social life is paying attention to anything. There are vendors all over the place around the SC...and inside the SC they have table and booths set up selling different things. The greeks of course are every where you look, just being on the yard and hosting different booths. Throughout the weekend...there's the concert (this year Plies, Trey Songz, Gorilla Zoe and some other ppl performed), the comedy show, the fashion show I believe...and of course a whole bunch of parties jumping off @ the different Hampton venues. Ehh...its really kind of foggy..sorry lol
annd..you wanted to know which greeks ran the yard?? *sigh*...
umm...I guess it depends on your view of "running the yard"....
In my opinion...Omega Psi Phi, Alpha Phi Alpha, and Phi Beta Sigma have the greatest presence on campus. Like..you see them allllll the time. You see the Iota's and the Kappa's around too...just not like you see the other 3 frats...not to the same degree I don't think.
As far as the sororities go...I'd have to say that Alpha Kappa Alpha are the most prominant org on campus purely because of their number. They definitely outnumber any of the other sororities on campus. Delta Sigma Theta is not on campus. Sigma Gamma Rho have a few members around, and the Zeta's do also. And I'm just giving you my opinion as how I see their presence around campus...not neccesarily which one is.."better" or whatever. I'm kinda socially inept when it comes to greek life beyond what I can see with my eyes...
As far as I hear...the communications department is great. Scripps Howard doesn't play...and neither does the Dean of the school. They are really a disciplined group of folks. My homie is in the school of journalism...and she had to wake up like every wedneday to go to an early morning morning review session thing at like 5 am so that she could prepare to take this test to actually allow them fully into the school. And from what I hear, the Dean is very well connected with a lot of people who are actually involved in media production and what not...granting his students great internships and jobs when the graduate.
Hope that helps =]
i have another question...
what would you say Hamptons best quality is??
like if someone was trying to figure out why they should attend Hampton, what would be your reply??
I'm a pharmacy major for now...but I'm pretty sure when I get back to campus I'm going to change it pure chemistry....
I'm going to major in Pharmacy too!
I don't know how far you are into it but I heard it was really hard. I was wondering if it was hard because of the amount of classes we have to take, or the type of classes. Like.. is it hard because it is a lot of work or is it hard because the classes are hard? I don't know if that made any sense lol
But also, what made you decide to change your major?
I got accepted in November of my senior year because I went to this Honors Visitation Weekend thing so my senior year grades weren't included. But my GPA was like 3.2 or 3.3
Hampton: The REAL HU
Howard: ..that other HU
lol jk have u been to either one?
If you haven't already, you should take a tour of the campus and the dorm rooms, what there is to do on campus and around the cities. And if you already know what you plan to major in, see how good the programs at both schools are.. Things like that, but you probably already know that
