Just let me have a good spot along the parade route lol Obama inauguration tickets fetching 5 figures online - CNN.com From the inaugural website... Tickets to the 56th Inaugural Ceremonies will be provided free of charge and distributed through Members of the 111th Congress. The Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies does not provide tickets to the public. Members of the public interested in attending the Inaugural Ceremonies should contact their Member of Congress or U.S. Senators to request tickets. The public should also be aware that no website or other ticket outlet actually has inaugural swearing-in tickets to sell, regardless of what they may claim. Tickets will not be distributed to Congressional offices until the week before the inauguration and will require in-person pick-up. “Any website or ticket broker claiming that they have inaugural tickets is simply not telling the truth,” said Howard Gantman, Staff Director for the Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies. “Tickets for the swearing-in of President-elect are all provided through members of Congress, and the President-elect and Vice President-elect through the Presidential Inaugural Committee. We urge the public to view any offers of tickets for sale with great skepticism.”

"Tickets will not be distributed to Congressional offices until the week before the inauguration and will require in-person pick-up. " Although they won't be given out until Jan, I don't think that fact is going to slow folk from heading to DC. I'm going, ticket or not. ...I might wanna request my time off from work though.

I am still in the planning stages. I am pricing hotels, flights, and rental cars. So far, I have seen some good hotel prices in Northern VA via Hotwire.com. I am not to concern about the hotel location as long as it’s close to the DC Metro. My only concern is getting a ticket. Based upon a few conversations, it could be difficult to get a ticket. The list is around 200,000 and growing. I am not sure if it’s true, but that’s what I have heard. Regardless if I get to attend the inauguration, I want to show my support by being in DC on the 20th. Obama is already helping DC economy.

I totally agree. Ticket or not, I want to go and enjoy the unity. I am sure the entire city will be full of energy.

Mmmm...if it wasn't so historical, I'd be chillin' in the lounge at one of the dorms @ A&T watching the inaugural address...but I'm willin' to spend a bit of cash *like it's only going to be so much* to be there. I'm still kicking myself for not attending the last presidential debate, even though it would've only cost me 12 damn dollars to be there...the first presidential debate in New York State in 50 years, and like a dodo bird I decided not to go...
