the pinning ceremony is the your official welcome to Howard...(one of my most proudest memories here :cry: )...but anyhow....its on the yard and at the pinning ceremony, the president welcomes you and you are given a howard pin (the kind that u put on ur suit or shirt). then u sing the alma mater....Its a real nice ocassion....Met a lot of people there and realized that there were hella folks from ATL...(YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH). 8) :lol:

yep. Freshman week is real hype. I was hesitant about spendin money on a CP pack, so when i got there, i only bought tickets for certain things (the dating game, Variety Show, and Kings Dominion). Some of the "social" stuff is free, and that's where u meet of people. And i advice u try to talk to your Campus Pal as much as u can within that week, cuz like others said...after while...they go incongnegro up in that piece. Sorry if it's any CPs in the room, it's all luv.
And oh yeah, we are planning some stuff for u guys in HUSA (howard university student association). A snow cone social, ok...i know it sounds like we are biting the CPs, but u can never have too many socials. There will be a hair show to show the ladies and fellas some of local beauticians and barbers in the area, and there will also be events to get to know your student leaders.
Some other parts i remember about orientation week last year were all these different forums with folks lecturing to us about being responsible and great leaders. They will claim that these forums are "mandatory" in your orientation book...but ummm...that's just a bluff (u didn't hear that from me tho).Trust me, u will probably hear the phrase "leaders for American and the global community" about 500 times your freshman year. Howard will make ya feel like the fate of the world rest in your hands. And people wonder why we think we are the best HBCU. We're taught that from jump. lol
man! I am gettin' hype just thinking about it. I cannot wait until August 9th (thats when I ship out for DC)
Freshman week will prolly be one of the few times I get a chance to party and "show ma a$$, go on hit the flo" (lol, that J Kwon song had me rollin').....I kinda wanna take the Honors program seriously.
and a question, is it good to bring a big trunk? Or just bring like two duffld bags of your neccessities and then have your parents ship the rest of your stuff out to you??
