Imma Military....Brat Posted on 07-08-2004
DEEliciouS

Ok...who up in here grew up or was raised as a "military brat"? How can u explain growing up like this? Did u like it? Hate it? How did u adjust to new places and new people? Where do u tell people ur from? Ok as for me....my dad was in the Navy for 27 years (dayum) and he jus retired this past May. I can truly say that i would NOT like to raise my children like this. Yes being a military brat has its pros: visiting new places........, but other than that i didnt like it. I developed the mindset at a very early age-dont ever get too close to somebody cuz either u or them can up and leave one day.It was alright seeing new places and taking roadtrips n shyt....but moving every 1-2yrs, new schools, new neighborhoods-new states, no family-It can be devastating. On top of that, having ur parent gone for days-weeks-months (my dad missed the births of both my brothers due to his deployment), can do some damage too. I understand that someone has to fight for this...country....but dayum. I hardly ever got to see my grandparents, uncles, aunts, cousins-due to us moving all the time and how far away we are from them. But since i have been in the state of VA the longest-i claim it to as to where im from, even though i was born n raised (for 2yrs) in that DirTy dirtY (Birmingham, AL). Ok im done......sorry this is an off the wall post.......i jus be typing mad stuff late at nite. 8)

HEY :!: Whoa :!: Calm down. MAKE LOVE NOT WAR. MY bad if you aren't rich. really what I meant was "well off". at least you should be since you have parents that fight for America. No offense. Stop being a brat :!: <---another joke!! See? HAHA :?: Naw, really I'm sorry. That was a blanket statement which I meant to make. But since you shouldn't make excuses for ignorance, I won't waste my time.
lol, it's cool... i overreacted, i move to the city and i heard that so many times, and i had to drill it in people's heads that it wasn't the case... so i get agitated at times when i hear that :?

im SOMEWHAT of a military brat since my father was enlisted in the Guyanese **** (aka the Guyanese army) and most of the doctrines that ive been raised on have come from his experiences in that regime.

preach it......i get so tired of hearing that.....in actuality military families can have the same financial problems as single parent/low income families might as well say we are low income families

LOL...the comissary is the grocery store....he was probably talkin bout the Exchange (like a shopping center) and they are cheap.....you will find a lot of things that are cheaper in the Exchange....and plus there is no tax. 8) The base that I live on has its own gas station that is cheaper than the gas stations surrounding it too.
