do you know how much money black schools could make off of this.. i dunno about everyone elses school but jsu does not do it... I know colliseum has a black college line now where they sell hats, jerseys and stuff. If HBCU's had their school's franchised and had companies like starter, nike, and reebok making their gear, they would make a lot of money.... Especially HOWARD U. since HOWARD IS BASICALLY CONSIDERED TO ME THE MECCA OF ALL BLACK COLLEGES.. a lot of cats would rock howard jerseys just because.... then i could buy jsu stuff wherever i go not just at school and surrounding area.... it would be nice to go to a mall in some other stuff and see my jersey being sold or something like that..
www.headgearsportswear.com
I jus saw that site in the SLAM magazine..but i have no idea why HBCU's arent made by Nike or Adidas *shrugs*
A&T has New Era, and Nike... it's not sold nationally, but in the Triad and Triangle of NC, it's sold here.. WSSU stuff is sold in the Triad as well... i mean the hat in my picture thread is from New Era...i think it's on pg 11... if not i'll get it from imagestation and put it on here
why would nike waste money if there wasnt a demonstrated need, you dont see howard playing football on ABC or CBS... ever, anybody can rock a notre dame jersey, but how widespread would a morehouse jersey be? who would watch morehouse play football even if they were on regular **** basic TV? i'm just using morehouse as an example, but it is the same for any school, harvard is a really good school, but ive NEVER seen someone rock a harvard jersey, or ever seen them play football on TV, well once, but i changed the channel real quick, you know what i mean, its all about who is the most profitable, i just came back from a party where i met a white girl who had lived in atl for 10 years, and had never heard of morehouse, she was fine as hell, but thats another story
People who are obessesd with Denzel Washington watch the football games all the time
But on a serious note....I think Nike won't market the black schools because they arenot known and in actuality many white people may not wear them. Many white people don't even know about Morehouse (Except Oprah),,,,,nor Howard....and thoose are the TOP!
Sadly, Our market depends on white society more...because they have more numbers economically....It would not be a bad idea cause soem HBCU's have some hot fashion...
However, the support will be little due to the small fraction of black folks verses white folks...
now THAT has got to be the funniest thing ive ever read on this website lol
4) NC A & T does have a contract with Nike through their Jordan Division. In this area (Triangle of North Carolina), they sell HBCU gear at most sporting good stores.
Damn... you got to it before I did... But yes, he's right, we do have A&T Basketball shoes, but the most people you'll see wearing them are the basketball team. They also have their own Jordan warmup suits as well as some hot **** uniforms. Screwed up how they get all that stuff but can only win 4 damn games... :? We also have a line of caps and tee shirts by New Era. Some caps by Nike. We've got replica jerseys, but I don't know who they're done by. I dunno what to think of the Aggie hot sauce or the Aggie water... or the Aggie sparkling cider. Hell we've even got our own golf club head covers. Anything you want, we got it, and with "Aggies" or "NC &AT SU" plastered all over it. But the thing about it is that they sell our stuff in the area. They don't sell anywhere near that things that we do on campus (as it is with any school), but its out there. There's stuff from other HBCUs in the area as well. Namely Winston Salem State and North Carolina Central. I think I've seen a couple Norfolf State caps... but no one around here is foolish enough to wear one of those...
Exactly now if only we could win....
At least the rest of the sports teams hold it down...
coaching problems... u are not alone A&T.......
JSU has some people like new era and some other big companies make some jerseys for our regional area.... but i am talking about nationwide. I would rock a ben wallace VUU jersey or a Lindsey Hunter JSU jersey....

Nah, I don't see that happening. You don't find a whole lot of other schools's stuff outside of their region. For instance... if you ask somebody in SC for a Carolina or USC jersey, you'll quickly get a Gamecocks jersey. Not a UNC or University of SoCal jersey. You might find a few, but nowhere like you'd see it in their own area.
we could make money..... The urban thing is in right now and people would rock hbcu wear for street credibility... then u know rappers and other black celebs would start rocking them... remember when will smith rocked that tuskegee hockey jersey on fresh prince... everyone be asking about that jersey....

Nah, HBCU'ers take thier school paraphanalia too seriously. Typically this would be the scenerio.
Johnny has on a Morehouse Jersey or "The Answer" T-shirt.
James sees him.
James: Oh, you go to Da House?
Johnny: Nah, I just like the way it looks with my Jordans
James: *Ice Grill*
Johnny: ???? *Confused*
James: **** if u don't take my school off yo back........
Besides, how many white people even KNOW what "HBCU" stands for? From a business stand point, HBCU's don't fall under "Urban" there isn't a large enough demand for that. Bill Cosby wears HBCU shirts all the time on the Cosby show, that didn't make people DEMAND for a HU Jersey.
Why would you rock a Team's Jersey if you can never see them play on television. How are you gonna talk trash to a Duke or Kansas fan, when your team is D2 and has never seen a CONFERENCE championship??
