Whatever happened to trying again? Posted on 07-12-2004

I saw this quote in the other thread and I feel that. . .

exaclty. All dumb stereotypes. Mostly spread by GDI's tryna start some mess. The same thing happened with the K's on my yard. they didnt even want a 85 girl line, they only wanted 30 and the thirty that they chose i heard were on point and smart too. But grad chapter stepped in and made them accept more females b/c dumb broads wanna call nationals. if they dont want u, try again, if u get rejected twice, they probably dont want u
I HATE seeing graduate chapters do that to undergraduate chapters. I'm in a grad chapter now, but we seldom interfere with the undergrads and their process, unless they've been hazing. I have seen sororities add thirty and forty women to lines. And it ALWAYS causes problems. This past year, the alumni chapter of a sorority added about 11 or 12 new girls at the last minute (a few days before the coming out show) and these girls did not step in the probate and were publicly disrespected during the probate. What do you all think about this?

Not when you're giving folks names like "Paper Wait" and "George Bush" and "DKNY" etc. . . that ain't cool, man.

From what I'm reading it seems like some Grad Chapter members forgot they were undergrads at one point in time.
That may be a part of the problem. Not all grad members got in as undergrads. Some grad members came in grad, after being rejected undergrad. They think they are doing a service to the rejects when they add-on. I don't totally disagree with add-ons, if there is a good reason. We all know that some frats/sorors can be downright petty when it comes to voting in new mwmbers. I have heard of a girl getting turned down for Zeta, because her mother rejected the advances of the advisor to the undergrad Sigmas. That is foul. She had nothing to do with her mother turning that man down. That was the only reason. She eventually made it. But I wouldn't have looked at her as suspect if she had been added on. There was also a situaation with my sorors at another school where they rejected this girl who refused to help one of my sorors cheat on an exam. This girl is known for her honesty and the fact that she is saved. Why would they hold something like that against her? Again, she would have still gotten respect from me if she was added on. So adding on isn't a necessarily bad thing all the time. It can help cut down on the pettiness. But it becomes a problem when the RD starts adding on solely based on how someone looks on paper. That is ridiculus. If someone's rejection can be adequately defended, then they should just wait their turn, if it comes.

George Bush == name given to a fraternity member because his father got him in. . . DKNY == Don't Know Nothing Yet

exactly. Wow, that is messed up sor real. The advisor probably lied on her to make them not vote. I would hope they wouldnt vote for someone just b/c of advances on her mother by a sigma and if he did lie on her, they should have investigated that fa real
