so i heard the other day that the Rick James and Tina Marie Tour was gonna be canncelled cause supposedly, Tina Marie was at a hotel and a picture frame fell on top of her head, so now she's in the hospital....
i think the show should still go on, cause most people were probably going to just see Rick James neways....

Teena Marie is actually an excellent artist...
our generation jus' isn't too up on her...
she was the Mariah Carey of her day...
and she ain't even a sista, lol...
but she still killin' the vocal chords on her songs now...if u just hear her, she sounds just as young today as she did back then...& could outsing many of today's female artists...which, i guess, ain't TOO big of an accomplishment, considering her competition, lol...
and how about, she's signed to....Cash Money :lol: :lol:
but it's a new division of Cash Money called Cash Money Classic...
my mom jus' got her newest album....and the CM clique & Rick James hooked her up w/ some pretty nice soundz, if i may say so myself...
I strongly disagree...she couldn't sing for Sh*t then and still can't. I definitely can recognize a good singer, regardless of my age and the generation I grew up in, because my parents are musicians and are in their 50s. And they told me before I had ever heard her and paid attention that she was one of those stars who was horrible but they promoted and marketed her right, and it worked. Then I heard a song on the radio that sounded old and was like "who the hell is this who can't sing???" and then they said Teena Marie and I was like ohhh...makes sense. And she sounded horrible on the BET awards..yeah she sounded "as good" as she did on the original song..because she sounded horrible on that. She ain't got Sh*t on Mariah Carey, or anybody else that can sing. At least Ashanti doesn't try to sing high and hit notes that she ain't supposed to..but Teena did this and people thought it was a new style of singin or somethin, when it really was just a white chick who couldn't sing for Sh*t.

Basically that must be a topic of people with different opinions. I am a producer and my dad does music so please believe I am not the type to just say somebody can't sing when they really can, unless it's just a battle of opinion. I just don't like her "style" if that's what you wanna call it. Yes I have heard the original Fire and Desire, and it sucked when I first heard it. I know MANY MANY MANY people, adults and people my age, who say that she can't sing, but she was just a product of a lotta hype. Now if I was stupid enough to say Luther or Aretha can't sing, then I give you the right to **** slap me. But regardless of how old I am or how old and respected some singers, I just don't think some artists are that talented. Tina Turner doesn't sound too good on a lot of tracks as well.

Are you crazy? I'm sorry, I have to disagree with you. Teena Marie is one of the few females whose voices wasn't "tweaked" in the studio.
