i'm workin' on this paper about dialect due later on tonight for my speech phonetics 4 non-majors class....& i ran up on this site... http://www.slanguage.com/ lol see if ya city's up there....& if u can relate to any of the words or phrases they have up there (& if u don't c ya city, u can maybe look up the next big city near tha one u live or go 2 school in).... i only picked up on a few of tha phrases for Los Angeles...none of which I've eva used....guess I've been in Raleigh long enough 'cuz i caught onto a lot of those....again, tho, none of which i use...LOL @ "Yenny Kinta" lol - that iz kun-tree fo REAL & "Beltline"...yea that one's always gotten me too since i came out here...in Cali, it was just "Freeway"...in Raleigh, it's "the Beltline" :roll:

yea i figured a lot of the L.A. & Raleigh phrases had to have come from Whites... but some of that stuff up there i've at least heard be4...

I went to the site and looked up my hometown...that ATL...but man all those words we dont even say...i say like 1/4 is right but the rest i was like...confused...i was like i never heard this before..maybe other ppl in Atlanta say it but not ppl i know. And some of the words were right the meaning was off. Here are words we stay down South Skreet- same as street Aight- alright shawty or shawty man Gawga- Georgia Coke - thats any soda not just coca cola da ATL/A-town/Hotlanta- all names for Atlanta Fixin to - in the process of doing something/ or gettin ready to do it Its more I can't think of that I say everday...its sad i know...smh.. ..if ya know them...just add-1LUV
