I wonder what the Dean of the school would say IF the news media knew what African Americans go through in order to receive an education at this fine, PWI. :twisted:
I'm sorry you had to go through that. I know what it's like to feel as though you have to justify yourself and your race. That was messed up that the other blacks didn't have your back, and the TEACHER didn't even say anything?! All I can tell you is to keep your head up.
Girl I feel where you're coming from and you handled yourself like the queen that you are! Don't let them make you "get outside yourself" and act like the monkey that they THINK you should. Last semester me, my homegirl and this other guy decided to take our MCAT prep course at a PWI here in New Orleans so we were the only black students in the class. Well it was this one group of students that used to take our seats and say stupid ish just to get at us but we never let em see us upset. I see it like this, never let someone know that their words have power over you and your emotions cuz if they do, they'll know just the right thing to say to hurt you and that, my friend, gives them too much control. Keep your head up little momma and remember He never puts more on you than you can bear. :wink:
Damn Tiph. Thats really...really fucced up. But I'm proud of you. You handled yourself like a woman should. So he'll know not to say nothing ignorant around you agian. And like mentioned before if he does....CONTINUE to put him in his place with maturity and sooner or later people will realize the level of his immaturity and might even have enough balls to put him in his place themselves. Don't worry about the people who are sitting there doing nothing, they just lack the courage, but I doubt you are the only person in there that feels this way about his biogoted comments.
^^^cosigns...im glad u handled it the way u did...thats one thing im still not used to...it seems after i moved back here to ohio from n.c. ppl are more racist then they are down south...i never dealt with what i go through here when i was in north carolina...and i have to put up with a lot of slick comments white ppl make thinkin that i dont catch them half the time...but keep ur head up and just keep responding the way u did today....i feel where ur coming from...theres only 6 blacks in my graduating class..and since i take challenging classes im always the only black in every class..and it gets discouraging but u did the right thing ma. :wink:
you handled that situation nice very classy. i had somthing like that go on in my english class. where this dude was doing a presentation and he busted out with all black people are N******. i'm the only black person in my class
too. i said something about it but the thing that **** me off the most is that the teacher just stood there and didn't say anything. she just let him continue on with his presentation. and later on told him to apologize to me! i was mad .
i was mad .
