bah! You all are losting sight of the most important topic here: My future plans to join the Republican Party. More should come with me, I mean seriously, what HAVE the Democrats done lately for Blacks. It ain't gonna be too long before the Democrats realize that we don't vote and completely toss us to the wind.

Some one brought up that same question about Democrats actions lately, but you have not presented up with any credible evidence of what the Republicans have done for us lately? If you want to join the Republican Party, then by all means join it but that is your choice.

That's why I'm gonna wait until I get some money. Cuz the main thing the Republicans will do is help people keep their money. Other than that, yer damned if ya do and damned if ya don't.

wait, someone did bring up a good question and i have one as well what has the **** done for us?.....certainly not more in Dems IMO secondly...if the **** released us from slavery...why was it the Republican party that wanted to have Jim Crow and Seggy laws? ::waits::
Thats because when the republican's freed us from slavery, they weren't the racist radicals. Only the Southern Republicans were pro-slaver The Whig Party were the ones who were anti-immigration and pro-slavery. As we can see, the Whig Party eventually floated away with the wind...which should be a lesson to those who are against every man being equal.

In the 1850s when the nation became increasingly divided over slavery, a new Republican party formed, primarily to keep slavery quarantined off in the South, while Southern sentiment was for their right to move, with their way of life, into any new territory. Their methods of agriculture and their best cash crops tended to deplete the soil, so that Southerners were among the most aggressive Western expansionists. The Republican Party, while it also attracted many anti-slavery Democrats, drew off so many Whigs that they effectively **** the Whig party. The Whigs were also badly hurt by the short-lived Native American or Know-Nothing party, which was primarily anti-immigrant and anti-Catholic. This party was strong in urban areas, which had also been a Whig stronghold. The last year the Whigs had a presidential candidate was in 1856

Actually it was Lyndon B. Johnson, who took over for JFK after his death (a democrat btw) who set us free. We haven't been truly "free" since the Republicans abolished slavery, Johnson signed the Civil rights act, that gave us the rights that we have now. Oh yeah, you and BushPimp should get together, I see you guys have something in common.

Yes, Lyndon B. Johnson set us free......and then what did he do? He sent us into Vietnam, which meant that THOUSANDS of young black men were forced into the draft and shipped off to fight a War in a country they never heard of. Yup, he set us free alright.
