I waited 6 months before I changed mine. I never had **** though. Just thoughs "crusties" I had heard about. There is this stuff called H2Ocean you should buy. It's purified salt water in a little spray bottle. I bought mine at a tatoo shop called Ink Wizard Tattoos. If you use that and continue to clean it in the shower and stuff, your piercing should heal just fine.

Sorry, I meant to say "those", not "thoughs"

also as long as it is clear...then it is the bodies natural healing....and belly button piercings take the longest to heal

HI! Your Navel actually takes 6 months 2 a year to fully heal. Fully heal usually means that u can move it up and down without any pain. I would tell you to wait about 3 months before changing your ring. It shouldnt look so nasty but u will experience white nasty stuff. LOL That is because the skin is getting used to a new object and some white blood cells are dying. Remember a piercing is an open wound and take care of it. What cleaning process are you going through? I would tell you to go with a sea salt soak and washing with Anti-bacterial Soap! Also, to take vitamins. I hope i could help. GOOD LUCK!
