Greetings,
The Republican National Committee has established several chapter of the College Republicans organizations across campuses nationwide. However, they have very few chapter on the organizations on HBCU campuses. I do know that Howard has a chapter and we are chartering a chapter here at Hampton. Many people have a misconception of what it is to be a Republican. You do not have to be rich or come from a rich family. So do not let the name turn you off. All it takes is someone who wants to be educated on the issues and the political system in America. If anyone from Hampton or any other HBCUs is interested in joining this organization please feel free to reply to this post or contact me. My email address is milton.bell@pipeline.hamptonu.edu or call me at my office at 321-229-3241. This is a direct number.
Thank You,
Milton Bell

ONYX VII.....BLACK DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER
my problem with the republican party, other than the bad ideas...ie the war and social security, is that they have a holier than thou attitude. its as if you cannot be a republican and be pro choice or care about the enviornment without being ridiculed by your own party. and i believe that this is just rediculous that if your name isnt Arnold Swertzinagger(sp?) or Rudy Gulionni(sp?) you cannot be a moderate.
1. The words Black and Republican do not mix.
2. What have Republicans done for the Black community other than hurt?
3. I am ashamed that Howard has a chapter.
1. Sure they do. I think that we need more Black Republicans or at least Independents to even out the playing field. It's not too smart to put all of our eggs in one basket. The Democrats already know that they have the "Black support", so they really don't have to offer us anything new to get our vote. And the Republicans think that we won't vote for them anyway, so they don't really address our issues as much as we would like.
2. Freed our enslaved ancestors and supported the Reconstruction efforts.
3. I don't go to Howard, so no comment.
1. We don't need to jump on anyone elses bandwagon. That method cleary hasn't worked for the black community (ie. the democratic party)
2. The post-civil war republican party was ALOT different from the present republican party which began to take shape around the pre-Cold War period. We were freed only in the southern states (not missouri or kentucky) in an effort to convince newly freedmen to join the military to fill it's depleted ranks. Reconstruction NEVER finished. That's one of the reasons Jim Crow and Black Codes came about in the south. If it had finished, perhaps civil rights movement would have came about earlier or, hell, it might have not been necessary if they truly supported Black Americans.
Call me whatever, but I don't trust the "good ol' boys". There's alot of things we can solve ourselves if we just put our minds together do for our OWN.

1. Notice the phrase "or at least Independents" (not referring to the Independent Party in this sense). Aligning yourself with a political party is a political move, not a major life committment as some people make it. Just because you are a democrat doesn't mean that you are gung-ho for each and every one of their political ideologies and vise versa. Even some of the political candidates don't agree with their own party on certain issues. But, you're right, jumping on the bandwagon has not worked for us....but we continue to do it. I'm not a republican, but I can at least appreciate the fact that they help to even out the playing field by aligning with that party. It only bothers me when some of them take it to the extreme and try to justify each republican ideology as if it is the holy word.
2. I was just answering your questions. Of course they are different now. Times change and politics change. But, let's not act like the republicans don't do anything. Which party had the Black Secretary of State in (now) 2 consecutive terms? That's the highest cabinet position held under any other presidency. The democrats are all about telling us what we want to hear....but oddly enough, they won't show it to us.
I agree that we should get together and do for our own, but when Sharpton was doing his thing, all Blacks could talk about was his hair (good job to the media for portraying him in a comical light)....very few actually voted for him.

this explains why i am a republican...i think the republicans are in the process of chaning into the party that supports what blacks need today...all of that crap (affirmative action, welfare) that the dems gave us isn't working to get us out of poverty...we need jobs and we need to keep the money that we make...but let me also add we need to improve OUR schools and set the system up properly to give our kids the best chances at being successful....
the state of florida is a perfect republican utopia...this is where i;'m from by the way. florida has it set up with the help of a lottery that any kid with a 2.5 GPA and a 850 SAT score has half of thier college tuition payed for to any state school...a 3.5 gpa and 1000 get 75% payed for, and a 4.0 and 1270 is full ride... with that help, the only excuse a person has for remaining in poverty is themselves...i dunno maybe the school systems at fault...like i said, we need to set high standars for our schools...esp inner city schools...
but anyway, with a college education, a cat can bring himself out of poverty...
and welfare and affrimative action? non of these have been proven to bring people out of poverty. in the state of florida, affirmative action
was stopped in all state colleges in like 1990 something...therre were blacks and dems calling bush's brother jeb a racist and protesting at the capital...they were convinced that this is what blacks needed to get a colleg education and that without affirmative action, the number of minorities in college would drop...
welp, under jeb bush's watch, the number of minorities in colleg in florida has increased! affirmative action is not neede to get black kids into college...
and don't make me start on welfare.... the countries welfare system does nothing but create generational cycles of people totally dependant on the government...inner city people even scheme and startagise on how to recieve more benefits! if i have one more child,,,ect...
and let me remind you that president clinton was forced to sign the welfare reform bill kicking and screaming...
why do the dems want us to be dependant on welfare? there's no proof that it gets large groups of u out of poverty...is it to keep us dependant? and if we're dependant, that means we're dependant on a political party that give us what we feel we need...this explains why blacks are the democrat party's most loyal group...black leaders in the democrat party have put together a conspiracy to make us feel that we need the dems benefits...and any one who sees different is a sellout to thier race (black republicans...
we don't need any of the crap that dems are giving us
I agree that we should get together and do for our own, but when Sharpton was doing his thing, all Blacks could talk about was his hair (good job to the media for portraying him in a comical light)....very few actually voted for him.
lol...the only thing funnier than al sharpton's hair was his political ideas...
where you listening to anything the cat was saying? the guy's a complete assclown! the man obviously doen't understand how to defeeat **** in the long run...and don't let me get started on his domestic ideas...this guy would bankrupt the country...
alls he wants to do is steal from the rich and give to the poor...
why do **** think this is a good idea? do they feel guilty for ahving all of the money they have or something?
yeah i do support my black folk, but micheal jackson and r kelly are also black.
that ought to keep my crazy political babe back on this site for a while :?
fine ****>>

This statement is very correct. Only thing that is wrong with it is that it is all talk and no walk. None whatsoever. Hell, I hardly see anyone protesting the War in Iraq, yet we are all supposed to group together and come up with a systematic way to run our country when we have not the time to stand up for our morals? There are many condescending facts which state otherwise
No. That is not the way to go. That theory has long been **** since the 70's. People in America forgot what the right to assemble is.
Sad if you ask me.
