The city of Terrell, Texas(30 mins outside of Dallas) is excited right now! They had a big viewing party last nights and the town went crazy, from what I heard. Jamie said once that out of all the years he's been famous he's never been on the front page of the Terrell newspapers, but he was on there for the first time when he was nominated. Shouldn't have taken an Oscar for him to get recognized but oh well.
And I'm proud of all the Black people who have Oscar's, Halle, Denzel, all of them. Who cares how they got them. Being Black in Hollywood is tough and they lucky to get any role that's given to them. To get an award for any role they play is great. Get off the bandwagon.
LOL I agree wit Kenya...it feels like one of my relatives won an OSCAR...damn tha African Americans are doin it up this year...Ray Charles, Usher, Alicia Keys, Prince, Kanye West, and now Jamie Foxx...it's about time!!!!!

I agree with u Lee Lee. Unfortunately, i haven't seen Hotel Rwanda (i don't go out much ), but from other projects i know that Don Cheadle is an excellent actor, so i have no doubt that her tore that role up. Sometimes it takes a minute for some actors to get what is due to them tho. Darn shame it took so long for Morgan Freeman to get sumthin. And i'm STILL waitin for Laurence Fishburne & Samuel L. Jackson to get theirs. Those men can act their butts off.

I understand exactly what you are saying but you can't give a person an Oscar because of what the movie stood for. In that case, many actors deserved Oscars just because of what their movie stood for. An Oscar is for best acting, not actors who were in movies that stood for something. Now was Cheadle's acting better than Jamie's performance in Ray?

Im not saying that he deserved the oscar just cuz what the movie was about....i was just sayin...besides his AMAZING PERFORMANCE IN THE MOVIE...the content of the movie was really important....
