The one Buttascotch gave about the Confederate flag was a good one... Should ebonics be used in the claassroom to educate African American children? (search the "ebonics debate" on Google...it's a situation that arose in Oakland in 1997) Is Affirmative action still needed? Do African Americans use Welfare as a crutch? Is it holding us back?
those r some really excellent ideas....

wtf?! how r u supposed to be "bettering" yourself with posts like this??? & as for the Iraq War, juicy_sweets, depending on which side you're trying to argue, Demmeri might not be your best form of assistance... man, even if u DO end up trying to argue his side, u STILL might not want to have his assistance :? but anyway.....here r some i thought of.... someone has probably chosen this or maybe will...but another topic could be the role of hip-hop in the Black community - is mainstream hip-hop/rap more detrimental or beneficial to African-Americans? you could argue if Blacks as a whole depend on leaders for their progression and improvement in society - can Blacks "rise up" on their own or do they need that "one person per 5 years" boost all the time to have any type of motivation? the "N" WORD....a word with too much painful history to mean anything besides hatred, hurt, and negativity today.....or have African-Americans truly been able to convert it into a "term of endearment," only to be used among themselves? (<--i'm sure someone will definitely get that one, lol - such a popular discussion) is there a deeper discrimination that goes on within the Black community (discrimination based on complexion)...or is that simply all in people's heads? & similarly 2 the previous one... are Blacks the only ones who pay attention to our complexions? are we "lightskinned" and "darkskinned" and "brownskinned" and "caramel" and "chocolate" and "red-bone" and etc. etc. etc....to just us...or do members of other races notice that as well? Or, to them, are we just simply "Black" (or "African-Americans")? & finally... "African-American"...or "Black"...which should it be (if even either)?
