well i was accepted to spelman in dec. but i haven't made a final decision about going there because i'm not sure about how we're gonna pay for it. to all of the people to currently go to spelman: how are you paying for school? did spelman offer u any money? are u taking out a loan?
spelman is my 1st choice and i wanna go there by any means necessary but i figure if i take out a loan for it, i'll be waaaaaaay in debt by the time i graduate from med. school (which i'm gonna have to borrow money for too.). well any replies would be helpful.

The key to getting money from Spelman is bugging the hell out of the scholarship office especially if you know you have the grades and SAT score to get some money. Spelman is stingy as hell, they have the money they just don't give it out. I got a half tuition scholarship from Spelman but that's only because my mom bugged the hell out of the office, the rest of my tuition comes from my mommy's pocket and a couple other scholarships.

OOOH U NEVER LIED. and its not just with the financial stuff, but i mean um i really realized that spelman was....special(lol) when i went to McVicar(the infirmary). Um they might as well just have sprinkled holy water on me and said a prayer because i feel like thats all they did anyway. I need to know why i got the same medicine my friend got for a stomach virus and i had a sore throat. and umm dont be sick after 5 on a friday because ur out of luck...damn shame. but i love my school.

They absolutely have the money because they have the largest endowment of any other HBCU...to put it in simple terms...they just have money sitting there and no one is utilizing the money.
I think it is ridiculous that so many of my hardworking Spelman sisters are struggling to pay for college when Spelman has money to help aid in financing their education. :x
