I am having a hard time in deciding which school to go to, I keep hearing good stuff from each and ecvery school but its hard to decide.
My mom wants me to go to Standford because it's an "Ivy Legue"
My cousin is a Hampton graduate and talks on and on about how Hampton is just da ****.
My dad says Spelmen or Howard....
help..... What should I consider while making a difficult choice???
I am majoring in Law or Journalism by the way.......
Stanford is not an "Ivy League" school; in addition I'd go further and say that an HBCU education is invaluable. Spelman, Howard, and Hampton are all fine schools which will serve to prepare you for your career as well as give you life and leadership skills.
Don't believe the Black Enterprise hype. It's all media influence.
I'm not saying that your experience at Stanford will be horrible, but we do need to keep our brightest young minds at HBCU's.
Pray about and wherever the Lord leads you that where you should go. Follow you heart girl. You are very blessed to have gotten accepted to those great schools. Just make the best out it. Make sure they are giving you alot of financial aide. By the way where is Stanford?
Stanford is in Palo Alto, California. It's in the Bay Area, i think :? , but I know it's between San Francisco and San Jose.
Congratulations, 614_beauty, and I hope your college experience will be rewarding!
Hay this is a great post for me. I also got into Stanford and UCLA and a few other top name schools. But I had to realize that college is about much more than getting a degree, its about getting a complete education and that consist of learning about yourself, your people, and where you are going in life. Stanford can do most of that for you but I suggest a black education to all black people. And by the way Howard is the best school in the world. I suggest it strongly!!!!
You better take ya **** to Stanford... You aint get in there for nothin you earned it.
Pretty much...There should really be no question...but if you feel like you REALLy want the black college experience, then out of the HBCU's you named, I would choose Howard.
well i go to spelman and it is cool here, but we don't have a journalism major and as i understand it, law is not a major, you major is something related and then go to law school and we do have political science which a lot of aspiring lawyers and politicians her are majoring in.
good luck
i agree with Rod..take ur **** to standford...alot try to get into skools like that and only few make it...which includes...as for the college experience u will get it anywhere...HBCU's are fun but sometimes it is too much fun and u may lose focus...i am not hating on any HBCu mind u..i go to one...but maybe it has been different for me since i am an international student and it's just not for me sometimes..
HbCU's are probaly a littel overrated and to be honest if you graduate from an hbcu people employers will see you as black all the time..thats the sad truth. I believe you should head to Stanford and get ya PAC on cause it isnt a Ivy League. The networking there is way more respected than any HBCU sadly. Hope you got ya mind right ma, and good luck.
