you would have to apply for financial aid for summer school and how much you money you get is dependent upon a lotta things...you may wanna ask them how much money they give out for JSU loans...cause the loans i am referring to are federal loans from the government

Yea more than likely...They havent even officially accpeted you yet...so you have to go down there just to get accepted...and if they do, then you can take those placement tests not to be in remidial courses, assuming you do well on them...cause those remidial courses arent even real classes...you get credit for them but they dont count towards nothing...you just passing those classes just to get into regular courses that will go towards your gpa...

JSU in mississippi? requires a interview? damn, i thought u could get into that school with below a 2.0 GPA
ditto...but anyway...I would tell you to go to the interview and pray that God sends you the direction and the guidance to make the right choice...maybe you can get a friend of yours to drive their car since you are having problems with yours, and at the same time you would have someone with you. Its worth it to go cause you will regret it later, and be like '' what if " all the time. You wanna have the most possible options available to you. Ill pray for you that everything works out.
I couldn't agree with Lady_J more. I think you need to call the other colleges and find out because I understand ur fustration but I also know that if you call Texas Southern and Southern and ask to speak to an admissions officer and tell them what you want to know you should be able to get the answer. I just called those two schools last week from Germany and I know that if I can get the info I want all the way over here then you can most def get your info in TN. Also jsut pray and ask God to show you where he wants you to go. I understand you really want to get up outta TN I can't blame you. But if JSU is were you want to be then you gotta make that drive even if its only you and the Lord up in the car you kow God always takes care of his children and he won't more on us than we can bare.

hey all you can do is your best right. I say definately take the bus and go. Try to see if there is a place to park your car near the bus station where it will be safe and if not have a relative or a cab take you. As for the summer program if you need it PLEASE go even if you have to take out a small loan to do so because this is your education.
But keep praying because I know how you feel. I've been through depression and I have OCD behavior, so no matter how bad things get there is always hope of tomorrow being a better day.
Guess what the f*ck i found out today in school. Im passing all my classes except Spanish II. I went to my school counselor today to see if I could be swith to tech. path instead of university path, but i cant because i dont have enough tech credits in the same class. :-( She said she doesnt know what i could do but talk to the teacher and see if there is anything extra i can do to bring my grade up. But guess what my average is in the class a freakin 26 and i try. I told the teacher when i came to this school that i didnt know spanish because my spanish I teacher gave everyone a 100 as long as they came to class. So I pass Spanish I with a hundred and just for coming to class and we never used the book or nothing. SO now I am stuggling and I am actually trying and just for trying i have a freakin 26 all my other classes i have A's and B's and now I have F 26. I told the teacher about my spanishI experience and she said she was going to work with me. She doesnt help me, she expects me to be able to do the same thing as the other students that actually know spanish. but its not possible. I just found out what amigos mean. :? But what am i going to do. I have 5 weeks to bring the 26 up to a 70. I have 30 credits and we only need 26 to graduate but if i dont pass Spanish II I wont be able to graduate just b/c of a 1/2 credit class.
Im going to talk to my Spanish II teacher as soon as the bell rings to go to 4th block class. I know they say God wont put much on you that you cant bare. 8) But how am I going to pull this off??????????

Like i said if it aint one thing its another.
Let me clear this situation up!
1. All freshman must take the CBASE...it's a placement test because they let random **** into the school. If your high school grades are descent you can blow the test, like I did and still be admitted as a regular freshman.
2. The interview is probably because you are missing some of the classes required to be admitted and they might have you come to summer school to take those prerequisites so that you can be admitted as a regualar freshman in the fall.
3. Everything around here is changing from admissions to campus life because in a few year the University of Mississippi is gonna try to come in and buy Jackson State right out from under us and change the name from JSU to University of Mississippi-Jackson. So alot of things are changing around here. Tuition is about to go up and the screening process for lettin people in is about to change because campus security is poo and when you let ghetto people in...ghetto things happen.
I commend President Ronald Mason as for as the school goes for his efforts to keep this a black college and boost our poplulation. The athletic department situation is a whole different argument!!!
Oh yeah...about the whole summer school thing...
It's not that bad...less people and it's alot easier to get used to the campus. If you decide to take the bus...the bus station is right around the corner from the school along with a cab company right in between. Now I will tell you...when you first see the campus you'll be scared as hell because we are in the MIDDLE OF THE HOOD! But all of this is gonna change because they are buyin people out left and right!
Me and a couple of people i know will be around for summer school so if you need a tour of the school, town, or just some random advice on what not to do at JSU...holla at me!
GO TO THE LIBRARY AND CRACK OPEN A SPANISH BOOK. If you can come online and go to this site you can go to freetranslation.com and find out what some words mean also. You CAN bring your grade up to passing trust me, evenyone in my high school waited until finals came around to try and do everything. But it will happen IF you make it happen. At least show your teacher you are trying and she will work with you. Studies show that if you sit up front in class and ask questions consistenly a teacher will not fail you.
