Who do you feel has it the hardest in America, as far as opportunities and the freedom of progression is concerned: The Black man...who America realizes is strong and very capable in spirit in whatEVER they choose to do in life...and therefore it (America) tries its damndest to try to hold him back... OR The Black woman...who not ONLY must face the very alive and present racial problems and obstacles, but also the gender ones as well, as America still feels as though women either can't or at least shouldn't...do certain things men do... ? ? ? ? ?

You said it all. In slavery, one of the owner's main objective was to first and foremost the black man to hit rock bottom. Why? It was some kind of laws or something that I read over a while back, but I forgot the name of them and they talked about how black males were purposely beat in front of their families so that they would no longer be the heads and leaders. We can see this taking effect with all the fatherless families. This is just one of the stereotypes black males have. Others include being criminals, being unintelligent, and slothful. I'm not trying to make this a gender thing or anything but black males are the most despised in America. Black women have alot of opposition but black males are the ones with the targets on them because plain and simple- when the black male is attacked it's gone to reflect on the woman. As more and more men leave their families more and more women have to take on the unnatural role on taking care of the family. This has made women have to become stronger and even more black males suffer because they don't have that father figure. It just becomes a chain. Black men are made to have the hardest instead of the females because if it was the other way around it wouldn't effect black males in a negative way. If anything it would be motivation.
cosign...and for the record i think we can all predict that most of the men will say they have it harder and the women will say they have it harder....

It's funny how the black man and woman percieve each other. You feel that you have it worse and vice versa for women. You also say that we feel like you're a threat, just as the white man does. Where did that come from?!?! Honestly, it's the other way around. Now, that black women are climbing the ladder, our men can't support us but we have to support them. I don't know... Maybe, i just exaggerate things or maybe not. All in all... I won't blame anyone but myself if i fail in this society.

I think we both can agree that neither of us have it easy. And of course our answers are going to be influenced by our experiences. Let me explain further on the "threat" issue. I've seen qualified black men turned down for jobs by black female managers, with them choosing white women (probably to intimidate) or choosing other black females (who end up being ditsy or lazy). The amazing thing is, in recent years my office has slowly become nearly 50% male - 50% female. That's my experience. As far as us not supporting you all, or you supporting us. . .that's all relative. It depends on how you define support. If that means paying for Prada bags and taking care of the $1300 mortgage, I doubt it. If it means being honest about how you want your family to grow and sacrificing a bit for the greater good, then a man will support you as much as he possibly can.

i'd say the black man... he's more likely to get distracted in this society that constantly tells him what he should be, pulls him in different directions, and beats him down...not only does he face the wrath of the white man wearing the power tie who refuses to look him in the eye in the office, but he is tolod he is a sellout or white by his own kind if he tries to do something with his life and carry himself in a different way...as a black man i've been beaten down by my own kind more than the other race...which really upsets me and let me tell yall i'm sorry, but i tend not to hang out with blacks that much for this reason...not that i hate my own kind, but i've been through hell with blacks ever since i moved to the south from arizona...they tend to dislike me, so i just would rather not be around them... black men have it especially (was that right?) hard because of the decisions that we must make and the maturity we must possoss(sp?) at an early age...balck men who lack that maturity are gonna look back at thier lives and realise they f#cked everything up over concha, rims, dough, quick bread, ect ect.... 8-) (nessa)

:???: ...What does that have to do with black men not taking care of their kids now? True enough, that did happen during slavery, but I don't remember their being any white man beating black men with a whip in the twentieth century saying "N*gga, don't take care of your kids! That's just them being irresponsible and trifling on their own part.

First and foremost I don't think black males or females feel threatened of each other. Now I think results show who are more burdened. Black men are in way worst shape then black women. With that being said I can assume that either 1). Black men have so much more put on them and many can't handle it so they fail or 2). Black women are just stronger than men....................
