I actually agree with Demmeri on this. Yes, there is racism in the world but we as black people cannot DEPEND on AA to get jobs and/or get in college. I still would rather get somewhere because of my skills rather than because I am black. If they dont accept me because of my race then that means that I don't need to be working there in the first place.
with my 1130 sat score and 3.24 gpa, i could have had scholarships to several different schools in the state of florida, and i consider myslef adverage as heck...dude, i didn't need any bit of affirmative action to get where was goin (had i chose that path)...i don't think affirmative action is needed in college period...you don't qualify, you dont qualify, case closed>> 8-) (nessa)
It's not about being qualified, it's about people not being accepted or hired because of their race. Qualifications don't matter to these people.
Of course if your grades or SAT is looking right you wouldn't need Affimative action. You need it when the place where you trying to be accepted or hired doesn't care about any of that and has ignorant, prejudice people.

But that doesnt mean we should DEPEND on Affirmative action. Like I said, if the company or college doesnt accept you because of race then maybe thats not a place you need to be at

:???: what? I'm sorry. I am not to proud to take a good job through affirmative action. If I am qualified, what is the problem?I think you and demmeri are getting the idea all wrong. Like I said before, affirmative action is not getting less qualified blacks better jobs, it's getting those qualified blacks who would not have gotten these jobs before hired.
