This Question and Answer thread was developed to answer ANY and EVERY inquiry from those who have officially selected Howard University as their place for academic growth! And for those who are still undecided about where you will be in the fall, hopefully this thread will help you lean towards furthering your education at HU If you have any questions pertaining to Howard University, registration, athletics, Greek life, campus life, Homecoming, Washington, DC, clubs, shopping malls, classes, majors, minors, roomates, etc. DO NOT HESITATE TO ASK QUESTIONS! Although Howard alumni and students are not experts in all areas of college life, we will try our best to answer your questions directly and in a timely manner.

My EFC was 0.
EFC= Expected Family Contribution. Basically we're broke..lol I had to do all that verification nonsence.
& legally I dont have any parents...being a ward of the court is kinda like being an orphan (but your parents dont necessarily have to be ****) I belong to the gov't. So on my FAFSA I filed as independent. Its like im living on my own, and have no income.
Im sure people from years past have had EFC's of zero, and i know there are people who were wards of the court.

So does that mean you automatically get funding/scholarships/grants upon acceptance?

Well on my other financial packages I got the maximum amount for all the Federal grants, but there always seems to be a gap where I need to take out loans.
I dont know what other funding Howard has...(here in NY we have TAP and all state school's have their own grants.) I do not know if HBCU have their own grants..or any other money resource.
Thats why I wanted to have an idea of what my financial package would look like.

I love Howard! If my package is even semi-decent im going! I've met ppl who are going and we've all become really good friends! THis sat. all us nyers who are going to HU are all meeting up and going out!
I havent sent in my enrollment fees or anything because I still havent received my package from them. Because if my package isnt good, then i have another school that I love as well...HU is supposed to be sending them out this week...so im excited!

lol thats wat im talking bout girl...im going anyways bc i have talkd 2 some ppl and they say that even tho u arent offered any scholarships in the beginning you still can get good scholarships while attending...so im taking that chance bc i know it will be worth it...

If all of your financial forms arent in, you probably wont receive your package. So if they requested that you had to send in your parent's w2 then they are still awaiting that. (But call 2morrow to make sure)
