So, I'm officially a senior in highschool and it's time to apply for college. Do I have a chance of getting in??
I am ranked 160 out of 433
I am a National Achievement Scholar (Referred)
I have a 3.04 G.P.A
I've taken only honor and AP classes my entire high school career.....
Also, what kind of scholarships does Howard offer and how do you apply for them??
I can understand applying to one school. But if financial aid & scholarships
aren't right, I'm not about to put my self in debt for any school.
Debt isnt necessarily a bad thing. I know people who had to take out loans to put themselves through school because they had no help. For some its the only option. But I feel where you are coming from though...
If you have no other option, then I suppose loans are all you have.
But that doesn't make debt any less negative. I don't like owing anybody anything, especially not a corporation that can take liens on my property, garnish my wages, or any other method they can come up with.
But I know if it is between school A (which may be more prestigious) that offers 1/2, and school B that gives a full ride then shiidd..my decision is clear.
yezzir....okay look at whats happening w/ me and EA im sending everything including past scores....im taking the SAT this sat oct 6 then the results come in 2 weeks and should be sent to hu by then and ive been praying and have confidence i will get the score for @ least the legacy scholarship.... so they will get my other sat scores by the 20th beating the **** line for nov 1st....so pray for me ive been stressing hella lot lately and studying my tail off so yeah thats what it is right now
You ain't the only1 im taking sat this weekend also But If i **** up im still confident in my essay cuz when it comes to essay im a beast plus i basically wrote about the legacy of Howard and how i want to be one if its new prominent leaders

That's totally understandable. I see nothing wrong with options. That's why i stress research so much. Please kinfolk, thoroughly look up info on these schools that you are all interested in, as well as put in some serious time and effort for scholarship searches. Not that loans can't be a lifesaver sometimes (because trust...they've come in handy for me a time or two lol), but just let them be your last option.
And please don't just limit yourself to scholarships offered by the schools you applied to. There are also a PLETHORA of scholarships that exists via the web, libraries, highschool college centers, etc. Many people use the excuse "well HU didn't offer me the money I needed, so i decided not to go". If you truly feel that a particular school is the place for you, then go above and beyond to make that dream come true. If you keep your gpa above average (in highschool, as well as college), and stay on your grind (in highschool, as WELL as in college), there is no reason why you shouldn't have the majority, if not all of your collegiate expenses covered by financial aid.
Yes!
Undecided majors are automatically placed in the College of Arts & Sciences if admitted. If you want to change your major to Communications, Business, Engineering, Nursing, etc. you will need a 2.5 GPA to transfer into a different school.
Well well well! Isn't this something! The Howardite needs the Claflinite! lol I'll see what I can do. It may take a minute, got some other things on my plate.
