Oprah for president....No, it isn't happening. I love Oprah and i think she's great, but just becuz someone has alot of money and powerful status does not mean they should automatically be dubbed president of the United States. It takes more than that to run a country. She's fulfilling her calling in the media field and i think she's making much more of an influence in that area, than if she was the actual president. Peeps will listen to her before listening to Bush anyway...it's true. As far as her doing nothing for the "black community", damn i hear that by sooooo many peeps. What do u call Africa? Are the people in Africa not "black"? Honestly, i'm not saying that we don't have our own problems in the inner city, but realistically...there is no ghetto in this country that can fully comprehend what a village in Africa may be experiencing. Even the homeless in the US have it good compared to most countries. Oprah is not wonder woman and the savior to the entire African American race.

Did you reallly say an African accent? You do recognize that Africa is not just ONE BIG COUNTRY that it's made up of over 52 countries (Maybe more, maybe less) and that there is no such thing as an African accent??? You've pretty much shot yourself in the foot with that dumb comment, I can't take anything else you say seriously. P.S. You do know that Harlem is starting to become dominated by white folx now................right? When was the last time Bill Clinton did something for theM?

That's all well and good that she went over there and spent some of her pocket change and other people's money... But she still came nowhere out of her lil "comfort zone". She didn't dip any plates. She didn't hammer any nails.
f**k and/or THAT! If I had even a fraction of Oprah's money, there is no way in HELL you'd catch me getting my hands dirty doing manual labor. I'll give my check for $5 million and I'd STILL be doing more than most people who talk mess. What is going to be more effective? Me hammering a nail into a piece of plywood or me giving the group a check for $20,000,000???? You do the math. You can save that manual labor Sh*t for Bob Villa and them.
^^^U know thats what i am saying. , Thats why we accumulate wealth so we don't have to do those things anymore. You can probably build one house, with 20 million dollars Oprah could contract someone to builld like 200 houses if not more.

To answer the other question, Poverty in America, is nothing, compared to poverty in Africa or other third world country. We have a system called welfare and in many African countries there is no such thing as help. The possiblity of getting a job in America is much greater than the probablity of jobs even existing in places like Kenya, Chad and Ethopia, just to name a few. You're not living in poverty if you live in the projects; have a roof over your head, a television in your house, a cd player in your room, or the latest pair of Tims and Jordans. That is being poor, Poverty is living in a hut with a dirt floor.

Bruh it still stands that Africans have accents. It doesn't matter which country they come from, you know they're from Africa. I'on care if its Zimbabwean, Kenyan, South African, whatever. They're all in Africa. Not only that every last one of you is missing the damn point. If she was to be considered a serious contender for a Presidency, she'd have to go ABOVE and BEYOND what anyone else would have to do. Whether she has a feasible plan or not. It still hasn't dawned on anyone, that $20 million to her is pocket change. She could easily give it away just for the hell of it. If she's seriously tryin ta do somethin, I wanna see her actually doing it. She pays enough people to do other stuff. If it was something that important to her, then she'd do things her damn self. Not pay someone else to do it. That's what would set her apart from anyone else. I'on care if she's white, black, or Mongolian. It could be Bill Gates or the Mayor of Podunk, Arkansas. I haven't got a damn thing against Oprah. She doin whatever the hell she wants to do... But basically, until I see some mud on dem hands, and something that she does that DOESN'T have her name on it or isn't promoting her- or better yet, until I have a conversation and see face to face that she seriously about all this stuff, I can't seriously believe that she's not just tryin ta make herself look good.

THANK YOU! That is what i was sayin. Yeah...we have ghettos. But most of the peeps in that ghetto are recieving a check from the government every month. No one in a village in Africa, suffering from an epidemic of **** and starvation is getting a check of any kind on a regular basis.

Okay, that's cool. I can respect that. But my question is..hat are some good examples of these folks that "get their hands in the mud" and get "dirty" to prove that they are doing something? Just a lil curious
