Yea we need Affirmative Action... Why? Because you still have more qualified minorities gettin passed over for jobs. You still have women who are more qualified gettin passed over. Cuz ****once a company meets its "quota" they dont have to really hire any more. Cuz these days gettin a job really isnt about what you know... its about who you know
I know thats right...Connections are the name of the game. I know for a fact being associated with certain organizations and groups will get you far in life. Im already a living testimony of that...its important to establish connects while you in college that you can use once u get into the work force.

I am kind of confused on the whole Affirmative Action thing. I say that because I'm not fully sure if I support it or against it. In some manner it is still needed because if it were not set in place, there would still be people turning people away because of their race. The thing about it is even though the nation has come a long way since the policy was put into pace, there is still a ways to go. On the other hand it could be said that Affirmative Action whic is trying to stray people away from racially motivaated decisions is actually promoting these kinds of decisions. Affirmative Action leads to quotas, which is just as bad as being racists. It's hard to support the policy when people use it in the wrong way. I don't want people to say that, we have two candidates that are equally qualified, but we are going to give this job to her because shes black and it will look better for the company. That's why it is kind of hard for me to say which side I would choose.

Whites didn't experience racial injustice over the years, affirmative action was put in place because of the injustice Blacks and women received throughout history. Come on now... Be real; don't start with the unrealistic hypothetics.

well. DefJam is owned by a white company UNIVERSAL. and even within DefJam, i'm pretty sure there are whites running it, or atleast involved live Rick Rubin was (etc.) anyways A.A. is vital to todays society and as a minorty (whatever you claim) u should embrace it because without it we'd all be at the bottom cleaning white peoples shoes, or mowing lawns (in your case Thunder) and we would still be in poverty because of the lack of money to go to school (we still would have gotten in to college but A.A. helps pay for it too). We are far better with it than without it. p.s. my neighbor grew up in W.Philly (one of the worst neighborhoods) and got a scholarship to Drexel and now makes over 100,000 working for Merck........................because of A.A.

I feel similar to you, because affirmative action has been more beneficial to white females than any ethnic or racial minority. We were doing fine and had our own communities, colleges, and businesses before A.A. On the other hand, we need a system of checks and balances to ensure that WHEN qualified, we don't get overlooked because of our race or gender. Perhaps the current A.A. policy needs to be updated and revised.

What does a white man running anything have to do with the employee diversity? Can someone tell me? If you are forcing a company to hire minorities, well then you should force a company to hire whites also. Isn't that essentially equality? Or do we have some other set standard of equality that I don't know of, or that is completely distorted? Did you know a white Jewish person, and a white Muslim are NOT covered by affirmative action? That's so fair! Affirmative Action needs to be reworked. It does more harm than good. What the f**k do you expect when you have the white populace saying "Hey, I don't benefit from affirmative action, that's racist!", and then the minority populace saying "Oh, well, you should have told that to your grandfathers!" Because essentially, that's what it is. How are you going to get beyond a race barrier when you exclude the majority? How DUMB of an idea is that? Thunder Well i think everyone can aggree that the white man needs no help in getting professional jobs in america so how are we excluding everyone?? p.s. i think that there is a quota system that comes with A.A. for example a company will hire, lets say, 8% of his staff as blacks, while our population in america is 12% so its not like we are getting anywhere anyways so how dare whites (like you) complain when our work percentages dont even match the population represented in america yet (i could see if companies were hiring like 20% of their staff black, then i could SEE the Argument; but that is not the case) WE JUST WANT EQUAL REPRESENTATION!!
