Just get it off your chest and you'll feel better! Say what you feel needs to be said! Stretch out on the couch and let it go! Relax! Relate! Release! Num-yo-ho-renge-keyoh!

PRAISE THE LORD!!! I'm about to flip the script, because this post is actually positive... I was thinking about negative people and being negative and it made me think about how I interact with people. So, I want to challenge anybody that reads this, "Smile and/or say hello to everybody that you come in contact with regardless if you know them or not." I found out that a simple smile or a nice hello can cheer some people up. Of course you do always run into "Mr. & Mrs. Scrooge," but don't let them distract you from your task. Not only will you feel better by the end of the day, but you will be surprised by how many other people you will have made feel better that day. I know it surprised me!!!

Is it possible to come across as intelligent when your post is grammatically incorrect, full of misspellings and just overall hard to read? I mean we are all college educated people, or soon-to-be, and should know when to use proper grammar. But when you claim to be an intellectual shouldn't you know that when you are trying to convey a point, then is not the time? Can we form sentences and make sense....PLEASE?! Kumbayah!

PRAISE THE LORD!!! I'm sooooooo glad you brought that up. I had been thinking about that concerning a couple of post, but I thought it was just me. See, I'm so use to doing essays and stories that I automatically go back and check my spelling. I keep a dictionary by my computer just in case. I guess some people don't think it matters, but I believe that it will not stop with the writing, it will spill over into your speech. Or maybe people already talk crazy and that's why they write crazy. Just a thought...
My initial thought when I first joined this forum ( a few weeks ago) was the same thing. But, after reading the posts (with the **** gramatical structures) I actually liked it. The reason why is because it made me (an individual who does not attend an all/predominantly Black college) feel at home. Don't get me wrong, I do believe that there is a time and place to use proper speech, but in a relaxed atmosphere such as this (forum) I didn't know that it offended anyone to read "slangish" talk. A lot of it makes me laugh. It makes me feel as if I am having a normal, informal conversation with friends, you know, just "chilli'n" or whatever the proper slang term is now. I think it is good to have a combination of both proper and **** talk in these threads. Since most of the people here are already in college, I think that they already know how to speak correctly, but don't feel the need to in certain discussion areas, such as this one.

Need to get somethin off my chest! Why don't people click on the banners on the website!? Maybe we need to remove all of the ads and make the site paid membership or something like that... Maybe that was a dumb question. I guess evolution will take place...

PRAISE THE LORD!!! I see your point, but what I was talking about was more about when I'm trying to figure out what people are saying. I can understand "slang" and using "gonna" instead of going to, but when folks are using half words and broken sentences or the words they use don't match the meaning in the sentence, it takes away from me getting into the post. BUT AS ALWAYS...THIS IS JUST MY OPINION!!!

LOL I feel you... I think that people sometimes use slang on the boards to convey emotion or tone. Just in the same way we do when we speak to a friend. However, poor form is very irritating when it becomes difficult to read or understand. It's not nearly as bad here as it is in some places (cough... Blackplanet...) And sometimes it just makes the writer look and sound ignorant. Just my $0.02.
