Profanity...What's The Purpose? Posted on 07-19-2007
C Nels

If you browse the forums, you see profanity being used in almost every thread. I'll push the envelope and say at in least 90% of them. What is the purpose of using profanity? Does it help you convey your point any better? Is it because you have a limited vocabulary? Is it because it makes you feel "bigger" than you really are(intimidation factor)? Can you hold a decent conversation without using profane words? Can you go a day without cursing? Better yet, can you eliminate profanity entirely from your speech for the rest of your life? Can anybody tell me? What's your take on profanity?

PRAISE THE LORD!!! After reading these last posts I was waiting for someone to say that that was a good time to use a curse word. LOL Me, myself, I am enjoying this... I like it when people say what is on their mind. It don't make any sense to keep things to yourself. Now with that said, I would like to back up what my girl (SMC112) said about perfection being a process. That's the biggest misconception of people now a days. A lot of people figure since no one is perfect than we can't be perfect. That's not totally true. Each day you're suppose to live better than the day before. Each day is suppose to be a learning experience. If you let your temper get the best of you today. Then apologize and repent and remember it so when tomorrow comes you will realize that getting upset didn't resolve the problem, it only made it worst. Now, Ms. Jamaican Shawty, I have to agree with you regarding sins; however, we can't use that as an excuse to keep doing what we're doing. The wages of sin is still death!!! Big sin, little sin, out-ward sin, secret sin...any sin will send you to hell. How did we get on this, because a lot of people don't realize how much impact just one curse word has on your life. If you believe that one little curse word wont hurt you, then you believe one little beer wont send you to HELL. With sin, it doesn't stop at one. Once you believe one is okay, then you'll go to two, then three...etc. Before you know it, you're cursing without knowing it. My thang is whatever I have to do to make it to Heaven, I'm going to do. If it means not cursing, so be it. I guess being saved I see things differently than most people, so I guess that's why I can't understand what's the big deal about cursing? People are posting that it's not a big deal and they don't curse all the time and all this and that, but they make excuses why it's okay. If it's not a big deal than what's wrong with not using profanity anymore? The more you don't use it, the easier it will be not to use it!!!
