I know that I can't be the only person who has noticed what seems to be a "trend" of topic among black people our age. It seems like black people, mainly dudes, are always braggin about who comes from the roughest neighborhood or went to the roughest school, and they will diss somebody who may be from a nicer neighborhood. I see this a lot at FAMU and probably every other school I know about. For example, people from NY will be arguin about somethin and then one will be like "you don't know anyway, you are from the burbs, I live in the middle of the hood" and I hear it a lot from people from L.A. It's people from Carson, which is a nice suburb in my opinion, who will always compare their "hood" to other cities and talk about how hard the people in their hood are and all else.
How long has it been better to be raised in a bad neighborhood? Where I grew up is somethin between good and bad, it isn't Watts but damn sure ain't Beverly Hills. But if I was from a nice suburb, I would definitely not be ashamed of it, and if I was from a bad hood, i definitely wouldn't go around braggin about it like it makes me hard just because I was from a hard hood. Are people actin like this because thas the same thing the rappers do?
F*ck a burb and the hood. I'm from St. Louis damnit and thats all that matters to me. Y'all can keep all that Eastside, Westside, Southside, SWATs, etc blah blah blah. I'm still a country, educated niggra. Ain't no need for me to be "hood" and prove myself.
well you can keep that St. Louis to yourself
you can keep that dumb arse look in ya sig to yourself as well
(sigh) the pic's stayin ****, so get it over it...
this coming from someone who had a picture of their damn lips for a month.... did someone tear up the rest of your face at the time, and you was too afraid to show it?
but i'ma just let you get the last word... b/c i'm through... don't have time or patience to be goin back and forth... 8) no hard feelings
(sigh)...............if it took ya this long to think of a response and reply back maybe you shouldn't have in the first place
so, I, in fact, shall take the last word with this................
enjoy!
(thinks to self: I give him the last word, and he gives me a picture   :lol
(another thought to self: i guess a n*gga can't work for 9 hrs and be away from the computer :? oh well... least i'll have money 8) moving on :arrow
well i am from a small town so i can not say hood...but we was poor when i was young so i am from the gutter and i used to hate people who were born into wealthy families...it is looked down upon in mississippi to go to a private high school..catz will assume you are soft...
Well, I was brought up in the "hood"...I say it was better for me growing up in the "hood" because it made me a little smarter than the kids that were privileged...I am able to handle some of life's problems better than those kids I know that had everything handed to them...I'm "street smart" too...Some of the "uppity" kids around here come to this side of town and don't know how to carry themself...Trying to act like they "hood" or something...Crazy...I know how to hustle...If I am in a jam I know to get out quickly...I can't say that about the "others".....
Ha, peeps and Carson tryna get hood?? R u serious?! lol. That's a good one.
I think u can accredit most of this to rappers and the mainstream media. The hood and big cities are the places u hear about the most. That's why at HU, everyone from small lil towns or burbs are so quick to rep the nearest popular city (ATL, LA, Philly, etc.). I live in Inglewood, and i used to just tell peeps at HU that i'm from LA, thinkin they may not have heard of it, but of course leave it to Mack 10 & the movie "THE WOOD" & peeps think they know all there is to know about the place.
Honestly, i'm happy to be a city girl & see all different sides..Watts, South Central, Compton, Wood (which is NOT that bad) and yes...even the "burbs" & nice areas. I see kids that literally walk down the street in dc and fear for their life. Or just do dumb crap & have no hood sense. I don't care what anyone says, if u learn from it correctly, the hood builds character  .
well, i was raised in a bad part of an overall good area. crime was not huge, but it was there, and when it happenbed it was REALLY ba... i live in University City... the first "county" west of North St. Louis City... now over there is bad, but of course there is worse. for example.... i have lost probably 6 classmates of mine starting from the third grade because of ****... arson to a house... father killing wife and child...crackhead killing teen over pizza... **** accidents... rapes at Heman Park. etc etc. U-City can be kinda twisted... but nonetheless, i have dealt with it, and was brought up in a fashion where my surroundings didnt sway to me to negative things.... i ws always about my business....and even though U-City, and St. Louis too, is a screwed up town, i still wouldn't have wanted to be in some ritz craker looking, cookie cutter subdivision, everyone is the same, type place. being in the first county west of the city, helped me be who i am... who knows what would have happened if i was out in saint charles, or chesterfield...

So that is another thing that people always discuss...they will diss people from private schools for bein uppity and for be I know some soft and/or smart dudes who went to Inglewood and Compton high, and I know some hard **** gangbangers who went to private schools.
Smart people at Compton & Inglewood High???? Dang, learn sumthin knew everyday.
lol. Naw, i'm playin
