I REALLY want to go to either Hampton or Howard, but I have to get at least full tuition and fees. I got a 1260 on the SAT1, a 28 (29 if you take my best score), 610 on the SATII Writing, 630 on the SATII chemistry, 680 on the SATII math1c, and a 4.26 GPA. Can someone PLEASE tell me how much scholarship I'm eligible for. I've applied to Hampton already and I'm getting ready to send off my Howard application.
This is a break down of the requirements that I received for incoming freshman of the 03-04 school year. Of course, things will change depending on the averages for incoming fresh. for the Fall of 04. I'm not 100% sure that everything is/was accurate, but this should at least give you a general idea on where you stand:
1. Presidential
-3.75 GPA
-1500-1600 SAT or 34-36 ACT
-Award: tuition, fees, room, meals, $950 book voucher, and a laptop.
2. Founders
-3.5 GPA
-1400-1490 SAT or 32-33 ACT
-Award: full tuition and fees, room, meals, $400 book voucher.
3. Laureate
- This scholarship is based on being a finalist in the National Achievement Scholarship Competition. You have to make at least a 182 and fill out an application. If you are designated a finalist then you MUST name Howard as your first choice college sometime in March.
-Award: full tuition, fees, room, meals, and a $950 book voucher
4. Capstone
-3.25 GPA
-1300-1390 SAT or 29-31 ACT
-Award: full tuition, fees, and room
5. Legacy
-3.00 GPA
-1190 or higher on the SAT or 25 or higher on the ACT
-Award: full tuition and fees
I don't know about Howard, but you would get a full ride at Hampton. ...but you also have to remember, the earlier you sent tha application out the more likely you are to receive the money. I know people who were more than qualified, but sent that app. out too late, and didn't get as much as they could have. I got a partial scholarship here at Hampton and for the 2003-2004 year, the scholarships were given based on SAT scores. Honor's College isn't who awards the scholarships so if you haven't heard about any money, you need to call admissions and check on that, because I knew that I'd received money in November of 02', so they notify you pretty early if they are giving you money. ..but Congratulations, and hopefully you will pick the real HU. HAMPTON THAT IS!!!!!
