yea I didn't know he went to FAMU until I read it on the uncf website, there are a whole lot of entertainers that I didn't know about like Toni Braxton(Morgan State) Erykah Badu(Grambling)Brian Mcknight(Oakwood) Yolanda Adams(Tennessee State). But back to Common some guys at my lunch table said that they heard it's supposed to be the best hip hop album of the year.
That statement is hilarious... backwards as hell... but hilarious. Just so you know Common is the truth, while them other MCs is doing it for the money, Common is doing it for expression and love of hip-hop. You are truly missing out.

Well, I'm from the south and I know plenty of people that bump Common, but I think its just all based on your preference for music, and I respect your style as long as you stay open minded.

NOW that was the most BACKWARDS statement I have ever heard...
But thank God we are all different, right?
yeah that was real backwards... :???: i'll bump some Common now, he speaks on REAL issues in today's world... and he workin with Kanye too, which means he'll sell more... to say the man ain't real is a load of Sh*t...
and Mike Jones is real? fucc outta here...
Backwards? Hell I STILL dont know what he said. Can we get a period, comma, or something...but Im from SC and I'll throw some Common on in a minute...so its definitely not, "in the south we dont get down like that." Im from the South and I definitely get down with Common.

I was first exposed to Common when he came out with "Like Water for Chocolate" but I don't see myself buying the CD unless every track is hot. "The Corners" is an ok song.
Too many artists have one or two goods songs and the rest are fillers. That's why I buy mostly bootleggs anyways.

Thank you. I'm not feeling the new song but I liked a lot of his old stuff. A lot of people think we're clueless and just listen to Lil Jon.... Keep thinking that.
^When I'm in the club or in the car I keep it krunk just out a pure entertainment but sometimes when I'm laying in the bed or around the house chillin, I'll put something more fulfilling in. I respect the political statements that certain artists make, but if everybody did it, hip hop would be so boring. To put me in happy, uplifting mood I put on Lil Jon or Trillville or Ying Yang cause I like being entertained. I don't get offended with the obscene lyrics cause it's not talking about me, so maybe that's why I don't feel offensive.
I like the balance that's out there, everybody ain't gotta make political statements. Some artists just simply want to entertain and make people happy.
Suga Hill Gang had one of the largest hip hop hits and they weren't talking anything.
But yeah that's a popular misconception and ignorance that we don't know about other artists. I think it's just the South really didn't shine for the last few decades in hip hip and now that we are on the map, we reppin hard and got hooked to our music. But a lot of people I know still listen to other artists as well.
