I just got done watching Dr. Phil...which is rare, but newho, i found the topic kind of interesting. It was about this secret polygamy society in Colorado City. They are the very extreme of conservative and believe many of the traditions that they follow and beliefs that they hold are through the will of God. One woman was married to a man that has 15 wives. Most of them on average have about 6 children with him. That's about 90 children ya'll . The wife was very content with the situation and says that she loves her family (yeah...all 200 of dem peeps). Ya'll can call that polygamy if u want...but it sounds like PIMPIN to me.
Then there are the "lost" ones. Those are children/teenagers that managed to escape out of the society and start new lives for themselves. Two teenage girls had to re-educate themselves because their education level stopped at elementry school. They were used to be very submissive and always doing for others. Not to mention they are quite timid and fearful of guys. One of the girls stated "I really don't want to be bothered with boys right now. I think they are one of the most stressful things on the planet". Now that was one of the realest statements i heard throughtout the whole show
And guys...don't think you're left out of the loop either. A few of the young guys "escaped" as well. One boy ran away at the age of 14 with nothing but the clothes on his back. He was not allowed to play any sports becuz it was seen as "prideful". One guy was kicked out at the age of 18 because he kissed a girl that he was in love with.
I'm not one to knock the religion of others...to each his own. But like i said...i know pimpin when i see it
Wouldn't the parents be held accountable if they didn't speak truth into their children?
Well in the Bible it clearly talks about how parents are suppose to raise up a child in the way he should go...I mean God knows everyones heart and intention ultimately...There are some parents who raised their child to be Christ like and do everything they know the are suppose to do, but they live and are examples of those actions...and not just talkin the talk...Too many parents have the mentality of " do as i say not as i do "....and I dont think you can ultimately raise kids like that cause you need to be a living example of what you are raising them to be. But alotta parents do try their hardest to raise their kids right and they straw away from that at one point...I dont think the parents can be blamed for that when they know they have done they were suppose to...but if you just let your kids do whatever they want and the parents didnt really care about raising them with a Christian background...I think God would have a bigger issue with those parents and holding them accountable, then the parent who really is trying, but they kids just choosing not to do whats right. But thats just what I think.
And my belief is the disreguarding of a religion as wrong is not only moronic, but quite hypocritical. Disagree, sure. Call it wrong, don't be stupid.
Damn, that makes alot of you hypocritical, mornic idiots.
Thunder

Yeah, I must be hypocritical and a mornic idiot.....*snaps finger* Damn....
Get real playa :???:
Anway, like i said before. It's flat out wrong. People seem to take scriptures from the bible to try and justify wrong doing. Just because someone in the bible may have had several wives doesnt make it right. Plain ans simple... It's not of God. *rolls eyes*
You all need to look outside the box.. :???:
Monogamy is popular within the United States but Polygamy is practiced by more people around the world.
You and the rest of these fools dont need to tell me nothing about stepping outside of a box. I could give a rats behind about whats popular and whats NOT.Popularity does not get you in Heaven....Nuff said :x
But as a Christian you're supposed to be accepting of other religions. That's one of the requirements.
Really? I must have missed that. I respect others and their beliefs BUT accept? No!
Yeah I don't know exactly where things are in the Bible. But Jesus said it. Maybe Jason(LedbyFire) knows where it is.
I had to come back to this....Jesus did NOT say we have accept the beliefs of other religions but we are to respect them. Accepting and Respecting are two different things.

I don't really see how accepting and respecting are different in this case. If you can elaborate on what u mean, I prolly could see where you're coming from.
I dont care what anyone says...deep down in your gut you know when something is wrong. If you know something feels incorrect do you keep doing it? NO COMMON SENSE tells you otherwise...then again common sense isnt so dayum common anymore....clearly
That's exactly where i'm coming from as well. It isn't a matter of religion to me, becuz like i said...i'm not knocking it. In my opinion it's a matter of basic human rights. I don't mind them believing women should submit. But to make her wear clothing that covers every inch of her body to her neck, to force her to marry at a certain age, to not allow her to recieve a formal education pass the 5th grade, and her having to "escape" or sin and get "kicked out" as a means of having a choice, is simply unjust in my eyez.
And America was simply appalled, when this same thing was going on in Pakistan. Here it is right in our backyard.
