WELCOME TO HOWARD UNIVERSITY!!!! This Question and Answer thread was developed to answer ANY and EVERY inquiry from those who have officially selected Howard University as their place for academic growth! And for those who are still undecided about where you will be in the fall, hopefully this thread will help you lean towards furthering your education at HU If you have any questions pertaining to Howard University, registration, athletics, Greek life, campus life, Homecoming, Washington, DC, clubs, shopping malls, classes, majors, minors, roomates, etc. DO NOT HESITATE TO ASK QUESTIONS! Although Howard alumni and students are not experts in all areas of college life, we will try our best to answer your questions directly and in a timely manner. There are many current Bison and HU alums who post on this board.If you have a question that you are not comfortable posting in the open forum, utilize the PM (private messaging). Us Howardites are very friendly and responsive! Also, feel free to post your Myspace, Facebook, YIM, AIM or any other method of contact (if your feel comfortable doing so) in an effort to network, meet and greet others who are or will be associated with Howard University. Pan Hel Organizations are: Alpha Kappa Alpha Delta Sigma Theta Zeta Phi Beta Sigma Gamma Rho There are a few other sororities such as: Tau Beta Sigma music sorority Gamma Sigma Sigma service sorority Chi Eta Phi professional nurses organization Sigma Alpha Iota music fraternity for women

Q.What is the lowest gpa you need to be eligible for a scholarship? Q.Do you know how many international scholarships HU gives out?

Location is cool, but it could be better. There is much renovation going on so the city is making improvements for the GA Avenue area. No, its not ghetto like folks make it seem.

Im not too sure about the international scholarships...those students may choose to apply for regular student scholarships or receive funding via the Office of International Student Services. The lowest GPA needed for a scholarship through Howard for freshmen is a 3.0

It is not in the "ghetto." I have actually found that some the students ..... "exaggerate" about the conditions. It's definitely urban.

I hear that it may difficult for international students to receive scholarships and the best bet is to apply early. I know of one guy (from Trinidad) who did not get a scholarship the first year he applied...so he waited a year and then applied again and was awarded one.
