basically i just want an honest opinion about the schools. im thinking about applying to those schools and more for fall of 2009 but i just want to get some insight into the schools. any tips about admissions? how are the professors, the classes, the people, the dorms, the social scene,etc. also just a couple pros and cons of the school. hope im not asking for much.i just wanna get to know more about the schools other than what i read or see on their websites.=]

this college search is harder than i expected!! so now i might have to cross Tuskegee off my list b/c their psych/pre-med program isnt academically rigorous. i really didnt want to apply to many PWIs but the feedback ive been getting on about HBCUs are really pushing me further and further away. would u suggest any other colleges/universities to look into. They can be primarily white school but i would like them to b diverse, or any other HBCU besides the 1s i have listed that are well rounded schools..etc because i really need to come up with a final list of schools.
HBCU's are great, wouldnt recommend choosing a PWI over a HBCU but a great PWI in california that is excellent in the medical area is Davis, I still recommend a HBCU though...
I think springtime was trying to ask how is a psychology degree going to be all that you need for the medical field...? but in what area of the medical field are u interested in?

That's exactly what I meant. On the MCAT, I know that the information covered will include anatomy and other science type things. If you major in psychology you are going to focus on how the mind works. You can take a few science electives but that wouldn't fully prepare you because you can go only go so in depth in the subject since its not your major. Plus taking classes all over the place can interfere with fulfilling your major requirements.If you want to go in depth into the life sciences you should just major in one in the first place or double major.

oo.well i planned on majoring in psychology b/c thats my first love.lol. however, the field doesnt pay alot of money so i also decided to be in the pre-med program. therefore, at the end of my 4 years i can choose to either go 2 grad school with my psychology degree and go on to get my PHD or choose to go to medical school. i hope im not confusing you.lol

well actually, when i was looking up requirements for med-school and stuff i found that alot of them suggest that people dont stick to the traditional method which is majoring in bio. secondly what difference would it make if i major in psychology b/c i would still be taking my bio, chem, and phyics classes whose sole purpose is to prepare me for med-school. and i was planning on either becoming a psychologist, psychiatrist or an OB/GYN. if i choose to become a psychologist at the end of my 4 years of college i can go straight to graduate school and go on to get my PHD if i should choose to become a psychiatrist then majoring in psychology would be a great asset b/c psychiatry is just an advanced form of psychology, they both deal with the mind also. if i were to choose to become an OB/GYN then with my pre-med background i can go straight to medical school. my psychology degree would just be an extra and there is psychology to all areas of the medical field as far as im concerned. you have to know how to connect to ur patience ..etc. idk.thats basically my plan.lol
When you take your bio, chem, etc. you would only be taking intro classes. You wouldn't even scratch the surface of the information on the MCAT. I would stick with your plan of becoming a psychologist. That way you can pursue your love and make a career.
