WHY DOES HAMPTON ALWAYS TRY TO START STUFF WITH NORFOLK? Posted on 05-11-2004

Now when I first came across this topic, there were 14 people who read it, and no one had replied, and I was glad. I was really hoping HIU folks wouldn't respond to it so it could show how truly ignorant and ridiculous the whole thread was in the first place. I understand its hard to let bullsh*t like this pass, but I think you all did what he wanted, which was to get upset and give feedback. Clearly he is just a "Hater" , the same one that in another thread said he "hated" the 100 (FAMU's band). Now, he is tryin to get something serious started with an already heated rivalry. The topic is not worth responding to. Dude has issues thats all, PLEASE PIRATES don't even give in to this foolishness any more, we're better than that!

It is not better than ours. And by they way if its soo good like you were saying. Where are your people working? When we Leave NSU with a BA we can go to local news stations and get a job no problem not to mention any where else in the country. And we also have the #1 College radio station in the State where is yours. We also have a top notch 48 track digital recording studio with a full version of Pro Tools about 4 triton keyboards a motif keyboard 3 vocal and intrument booths 2 control boards digi 02 rack running on a G4 the second fastest computer in the world or on the market. a boom mic. MPC 2000xl(you know timbaland uses this) and that is just 1 studio we also have two more with versions of protools and a video editing suite. Not to mention our own TV channel with our own TV Studio. SO BASICALLY YOU CAN MIX AND MASTER A FULL LENGTH CD AND PROMOTE IT ON OUR TV STATION. CHECK THE STATS ON THAT BYYYTCCCCHHHH. So our people leave with a top notch education and we actually get jobs. You can find NSu people in all types of places in the country doing Movies, independent films anchors on Local and National NEWS and Sports programs Watch out your favorite actor or Anchor might just be a Spartan. who cares who goes to your school it just makes my school less crowded and I can register for classes later. OUR campus is bigger than yours. SMALL TIGHT AZZZ CAMPUS WITH STUPID RULES GROW UP HAMPTON YOU ARE NOT KIDS ANYMORE YOU CAN COME OUT PASS 12 AM CANT YOU?
Ummm yo, u said all that and still didn't say a damn thing  Glad your people leave with a "top notch" education and find jobs. Im sure they do, and thats what you are supposed to do when u graduate college. Our grads also find jobs in top positions, and you can also see many of our alumni on local and NATIONAL news as well as many local politicians, judges etc who run the Commonwealth. Besides that, many Hampton grads continue with education getting Masters degrees, PhD's, JDs and MDs. And who cares about how big a school is? Again, we stress QUALITY NOT QUANTITY. By the way, seems like the only KID on here is YOU. Grow up, get over us, be glad where you went, and let us be the same, because we are :!: IIIIIIIIIIIIM SOOOOOOO GLAD I GO/WENT TO HIU .............AND NOT NORFOLK

The Scripps Howard School of Mass Media Arts and Journalism is the newest facility on Hampton's campus (opened in Spring 2003). There you'll find the latest state of the art equipment in our TV and radio stations. I admit that your radio station is aight. One point for NSU. However, Hampton also has its own TV station which played some off the chain movies this year, as well as a few feature reports on HU happenings. As far as producing talent, you named Regina Mobley as one of your distinguished alumni. She's great...but she's a local news anchor in a medium sized market (Hampton Roads, Va.). Come on now...at least Spencer Christian (an HU alum) was on Good Morning America for a long time. Also, where do we work? Well, Hampton has MANY top executives working for other national networks. For instance, ESPN has 2 annual internship/scholarship awards EXCLUSIVELY for juniors at HAMPTON. Many are offered jobs later. Again, enough of that, because our list is much longer and the opportunities are endless. Please do not think that Hamptonians are not getting jobs...we generally go on to pursue even higher degrees after Hampton, but thats only because we never stop achieving excellence. Enough of this...go practice playing your horn or something, I have to get packed for my internship in Chicago.

This is stupid, why are you all going back and forth about who has what and producing this and that. Norfolk State and Hampton are doing great jobs at producing well educated, qualified men and women entering the workforce in their career of choice. Both institutions are raising the bar for students (current and prospective). News for everybody, applications from Norfolk State and Hampton are still placed in the same category after the Predominently White Institutions. I see it like this, achievements made by Hampton or Norfolk State is great for both because it reflects on each other (directly and indirectly) because we are the only HBCU's in the area (2 of 5 HBCu's in the state) with schools like Old Dominion, Virginia Weslyn, Christopher Newport, William and Mary, ect. When one institution makes a power move, it makes it a little easier for the other to follow. (oh yea, congrats to Hampton on the NASA Project, and lets Norfolk State with the RISE Center, see both institutions are making power moves). By the way, I love my school and will always represent for my Spartans, but I dont hate Hampton (only during the battle of the bay, Hampton is the enemy, but after that we cool.) Keep the rivary on the athletic level which is already intense, it shouldn't be taken any further. Instead of going back and forth about nothing, try to find a way to improve both institutions on all levels. Hampton and Norfolk State are doing a lot better than some of the other HBCU's across the country, but the road never end. We could achieve much more if we worked together. Everybody is lacking something another has, so everybody, Norfolk, Hampton, and whoever else stop trying to put yourself up there high in the sky, stay down to earth. Stop bragging about what you have and did because it makes you appear to be cocky and arrogant (cant stand when people do that). I know a fellow Spartan started the post, but Pirates you fed into it, end this. I thought this would have ended by now because not too many Spartans cared enought to say something. I'll keep this peace between Norfolk State and Hampton until the Battle of the Bay.

Just thought I should quote you again for those who don't like to read  The rivalry between Hampton and NSU is really not that deep :?

Yeah the rivalry isn't really THAT deep, but it only takes one to get things started. In actuality, I think in recent years Hampton has a bigger rivalry with Howard than NSU. Spartan2007, thanks you for response because you are what I would like to think MOST Spartans are, and nothing like your fellow Spartan. You seem intelligent and mature, and of college age, and you were right, a SPARTAN did start the post and the hate, and PIRATES did feed in, including myself which it was kind of hard not too. I think other Spartans didn't respond, because they didn't agree with a lot of what was being said and knew it wasnt true. Nonetheless, as we all know, both schools are great institutions with different traditions, different histories, and different concentrations and focuses, different sources of funding, but with the same basic mission. So in closing.....Much luv to all Pirates and Spartans. Rock the Blue & White, Behold the Green and Gold and all that good stuff
