True story;
I currently live on my own with 3 other roommates. (My brother and his girl friend and my boyfriend), anyway... we live in a two BR apartment... very nice. Problem is, the apartment was not done when we moved in. Me and my BF were moving from a one BR to a bigger place and my bro moved in with us... (one big happy f**king family). The walls aren't painted, we don't have garbage bins, we don't have a smoke detector, the door bell doesn't work... and a lot more crap. It's me and my BF's place so our names are on the lease (that we did not sign!!!!!!). I called the Land(slum)lord and told him the problem and told him that I'm not signing the lease until everything is done! he told everything would get done before the month of June. I call him that whole month to try and get him over here to do something and no call/ no show. July 1st comes... and I futher my protest.... I withheld the rent! 10 days later he mails me a late fee. I called him and told him that I'm not paying the rent until he comes and fix the place up... and he told me that that's no excuse to withhold the rent! He mails me another letter and says that I should give him the rent before the 25th. Well here I am... I still did not pay... I am patiently waiting on my eviction notice....
In the mean time... I am looking for some place else to stay. What would you do????????????
one question... why would u move in da apartment without everything done first? Dat wasnt too smart 2 begin with. u have 2 pay rent cuz ur livin in his place, whether or not everything is to ur standards.

if you don't pay him, your credits gonna be fed up, and it's gonna be hard for you to get another apt....you should take his **** to court...small claims court to **** because of alll the crap he's left undone...i've seen it done severeal times on the peoples court, and the plaintiff usually comes out good.

if nothing is signed... it's really not binding, but like Chris said, it depends on whatever the state law of your state...

First of all I didn't know that they weren't dont until I got there... second, where else would I go... I couldn't stay in the last apartment that I was in... my last landlord expected me out on our agreement.... i wasn't about to live on the streets... lets be serious :???:
When I talked to the land lard he told me that he was running behind on the maintenance on his other apartments and said that everything would be done before the end of June. Since it wasn't he didn't get his money.... what would you do????? :???:
