For good reason. Who would want their business associated with that? Not only is it a show ridiculing people for being poor, it promotes the worst and most stereotypical images of Black people short of a minstrel show (which it basically is). I understand being funny but sometimes it goes too far. This time it went too far. The show is basically the Black equivalent of the "New Beverly Hillbillies" show which generated so much controversy it never aired. Imagine the people who have never been exposed to Black people, had Black friends, or visited a Black community, anything outside of watching BET... and what opinions would be formed.

Do you think that the sponsors will come back now that they've changed the name of the show? Or will they stay away because the content is still the same?

Cita was corny and I believe Hits didn't want to be typecasted as an idiot so he left the show. I don't watch BET as much as I used to.

Hits was on one of the seasons for Punk'd. But Hot ghetto Mess was jus that..a mess. i think tha sponsors should have pulled out. Even though I did catch myself laughin while watchin it. Its not a good representation of us as black people. thats just my opinion

You could tell the sponsors pulled out of advertising during the show, all I remember seeing were commercials for BET shows. You can also tell that they didn't fully edit the show, Charlie Murphy was still calling it "Hot Ghetto Mess". S.O.B. on the other hand was pretty funny. I didn't think it was going to be that funny at first. Why did everybody have to be so serious in their "Reactions"?

PRAISE THE LORD!!! With a name like "Hot ghetto mess," seriously, what did they expect? You are asking for controversy. Some people view controversy as a good thang, but that's not always the case. Sometimes it feels as if Blacks are working backwards. It's like we've stepped into a time warp and are back to "steppin' and fetchin'!" We try to talk about ourselves, like it's better when we do it. No, it still makes us look bad. (Excuse me for a minute while I break out my soap box and my sign...) The Black society really needs to come up to the plate. We are slowly undoing everything that our ancestors fought so hard to achieve for us. It's no wonder it feels as if we are headed back to slavery days. We got so caught up with "the power of FREEDOM" that we forgot what "FREEDOM" our ancestors gave their life for. Our ancestors were **** trying to have the things that we take advantage of. There's enough truth behind every stereotype to make other races think that's how Black people really are. We say that's not how all blacks are, but then we go and confirm the myth. We're sending mixed signals. Then here we come along wanting to air something as inappropriate as "Hot Ghetto Mess," like it's the best thing to come along since indoor plumbing. (COME ON NOW!!!) The sponsors should have pulled away. Actually they never should have sponsored them. I'm a Black woman and I am for the upliftment of my people. Anything that contradicts that is wrong to me!!!
