ok..i'm a high school senior. i go to a pre-dominately white, all girls, ivy-league prep school. im just puttin the truth out there...i have been discriminated gainast since i came there in 3rd grade. but in my junior and senior year..its gotten a lot worse. i was unjustly put on academic probation ( long story but i have proof of their dishonesty)...anyways....thats really effected my gpa...i have a 2.3..ouch. i was talking to my college advisor and she says that i would def get inot hu because of my schools prestigious rep and im an actual average student...(i have a crap load of volunteer work and i am involved in a lot of school activites). i know that HU has a legacy of leadership and i know i have the potential to do and be SO much more...but of course my current situation stifles it. so i was thinking that i should mos def write my essay on my experience and TO ANY OF THE CURRENT HOWARD STUDENTS...DO I HAVE A CHANCE OF GETTING IN?? I'm applying early action...
what do yall think of VSU and Morgan State?? Thanks a bunch!

Hi KattyK,You seem like a well rounded individual with lots of potential. Since you are involved with Volunteer work/School activities, I think that will make you a good candidate for any university, if you do well on your SAT or ACT. I am sure you have experienced lots of animosity at your school. However, you are very close to the end of a long journey. Therefore, I recommend you keep working hard and don’t let anyone take your pride or confidence. Keep your head up and stay strong!

Just an FYI on Howard University: Evaluation of an applicant's qualifications for admission is based on high school course work, grade point average, class rank, test scores, extracurricular activities and letters of recommendation. An essay, audition, portfolio, or interview also may be required.

Depends on what you want your major to be. I chose Morgan over Howard. I got scholarships to both, but Morgan paid for EVERYTHING, so i took it. I'm a finance major, econ minor. Morgan has an excellent business program, Howard is known for their business program. It all depends on what you want to do.
I was never the person to go after the HYPE around schools, and now that I'm a senior around companies. I go with what is best for ME, not everyone else. I wanted to go somewhere that had my major, that would be free, and had a good name. So I chose Morgan, and I never looked back. I don't know too much about VSU, but like I said it depends on what YOU are looking for in a school.

i go to an all girls catholic school , but u have to look at other factors that carry weight like the curriculum , activities , your essay , and recommendations so just hope for the best and the school should see that
well for an update i got accepted into Morgan State and VSU is coming this week. As for Howard...........................i emailed them because I have to set up a date for an audition for acting and an interview..somi dunno yet. but im pretty sure about vsu though. thanks for all of the support yall!!!
got a letter in the mail from Howard and............didn't get in. I wasn't sad at all though. I heard that it wasn't a good school and..I couldn't agree more. I have a friend that goes there and I know a couple of people that applied, got in, went and transfered. They said it was bascially really stuck up and coming from an all girls private school...i knew i would have hated it there. So I'm goin to VSU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yay!!!!!
