Hey Whats up. Are there any Aggies on this site. I am ditching Alabama State, Grambling, Clark, Shaw, and Jackson State to go to A&T. From any one who goes to A&T how is it as school, the people who go there, and recreation. If any one can help thanks

I got accepted into all of them but they didn't seem like they were for me. From what people were telling me they are to ghetto. Plus what people were saying about Alabama State being unsafe. I completely crossed them out.

You cannot depend on what people say....they could be lying for all you know. The best way to decide if a school is for you is to actually go to that particular school. Talk to the students and professors, walk around the campus and see the facilities. You might be missing out on a great university by relying on what someone else thinks and says.

Truth is right, if you're going to make a life changing decision like which college you're going to attend, I wouldn't listen to hearsay. Do your own research and make your own choice.

Well Thats true to that you cannot rely on what people tell you. But you do have to take it into consideration. Alabama State, Jackson State, and Grambling State all went unranked by the 2008 Best Colleges to go to. That is a serious matter in my eyes. I know they are not as well known for there high academics like Claflin, Howard, Hampton, Morehouse, Tuskegee, Clark Atlanta, Or Xavier but all these schools do not have Criminal Justice except Clark. Coming all the way from NY if you don't have the money to go visit every school. You have to take into consideration what people say about the schools. Then I would go to Clark it was ranked in the Best Colleges but it is to overpriced when they are not known for there Criminal Justice program. Or producing Criminal Justice graduates. It's a hard decision and I want to make sure where ever I go it's the right choice for me, and I am sitting in my dorm wondering why I'm here and waste a semester at school when I could be somewhere else. Plus I know Alabama State is in the middle of the projects and its unsafe around the campus. I know the projects down there can not be worse then LA or NY but why when your at a institution of higher learning should you have to watch your back and watch who you talk to to. People are in college and need to start acting like it. Why fight argue and rob people that is all uncalled for behavior. You want to feel safe while you are on campus

Would you buy a car without test driving it? You may not have the money to visit every school but I'm sure you're not going to attend a school without visiting it first. Then you'll REALLY be more prone to find yourself sitting in your dorm wondering why you're there!

Personally, I think you should visit your top choice. Therefore, you will feel comfortable with your decision.

It may be a little too late to do it now if you're a senior but you may want to investigate any Black College Tours that may be leaving from NY. I know many organizations set them up b/c they know many folk in the north don't have access to visit HBCUs. I know Philly and DC have em.
