I didn't watch it, was this the evnt sponsored by Tavis Smiley...I heard that Barack Obama didn't make an appearance becuase he was campaigning in Texas and Ohio...How do you feel this will affect him later on in his campaign especially with Black voters...Do you have any less respect for him?

I think that it is blown out of proportion... Obama has taken the time to talk with Tavis, Michael Baisden, Oprah, Tom Joyner, and many other prominent African American leaders... I don't think that we should hold it against him just because he can't be at 23490328 places at once. And many of the things that he talks about are already outlined nicely on his website... soo if people want to see "where he stands" then they can read it themselves.

I used to be a big fan of the State of the Black Union forums. However, most of the keynote speakers are the ones that I never see doing a damn thing when it comes to getting their hands dirty. In my opinion, they also have a tendancy to be redundant. Most of what they do talk about has very little to do with me in the first place. When they come up with something new... something that hasn't been drilled into my head, then maybe I'll be inspired enough to watch or attend.

I watched alot of it...but not all of it..i think it was very interesting what alot of people have to say...my concern is...is anything gonna get done..im glad we are taking the first step and initiating conversation...but we need to step up and actually make changes...but at the end of the day...i guess its starts with each individual...we gotta dow what we can to uplift, empower, and inspire our people...we gotta do what we can to make changes in our communities...we gotta do what we can to get involved in politics, lobby for bills to be passed, contact our local representatives...and so on

i can't say that i have any less respect for him...i mean this is one event...and like others said...i feel that people are taking it way outta proportion...i think some voters may get a little upset...because theres people out there that feed off of da hype..wen people syce things...they get all excited and are quick to conform

Yea but it wasnt like he didnt put any effort forward, Michelle Obama offered to appear and tavis declined... It was a simple case of his national committee prioritorizing, campaign first... So my respect is still
