Im a newbie. Gonna try this thing out and make it do what it do. I am a third year law student currently interning at several locations this summer. So lets get this thing poppin......
Congrats Man. Because we gonna need hella lawyers when this recession kick in fully. Becuz i know a lot of people who have a mindset of, "if my kids cant eat, I'm snatching food off of somebody elses plate."
lol I feel yah but I am staying away from criminal law as far as possible. If anything I am trying to work for the MAN- The federal government. They are the only ones that will never suffer-cant beat them, might as well join them and destroy them from the inside out lol

Oh yeah-lots of advice so here it goes:
First, decide why you want to go to law school. Make sure the decision is based on your purpose in life and a passion to pursue an attainable goal.
Second, locate and contact as many attoerneys in the foled of law you THINK you are interested in. Please believe that too shall change.
Third, practice the lsat. Find a god lsat prep, spend the money, take advantage. There is no such thing as studying for the lsat.
Fourth, build up money now so you will not work while you are preparing for lsat and applying to law schools. Working fulltime, gathering recommendation letters and writing entrance essays are crucial. These are not task you schedule, this is time you dedicate.
Fifth-APPLY EARLY!!!! For example, I wanted to start law school fall of 2006. I had all my applications submitted by Thanksgiving of 2005. The application deadlines usualy fall between February and May. Some have rolling deadlines. Competition is fierce, especially for the young, gifted, and black. Apply to three law schools for every one you want to attend. I was blessed to get into 4 out of 5 applied for. Now I am one out of 15 black students graduating in 2009 from a class of 220. Blacks did not make up 10% of the class!
There is a lot more to say but I have to read for class tomorrow. Please feel free to email me at sweeney601@yahoo.com anytime and I will respond promptly. God Bless!
