I Heard That Going To A Hbcu Is The Best Four Years Of Your Life And I Really Do Want Too Go Too A Black College But On Top Of That My Aunt Told Me That Going Too An Hbcu Is Not Good For Me Because Im Already African American So Why Should I Go To An All Black College.....................................i Believe That I Should Go But I Just Really Need To Know If That Is The Best Choice For Me
HBCU and All-Black are two different things. I don't even think there is an 100% Black HBCU. You have to understand that the schools are HISTORICALLY black, created for us when there were no other options in higher education. Today, we're open to all races and cultures. Attending an HBCU doesn't make you MORE black so I'm not understanding your aunt's rationale. If that's her only point of not wanting you to go to an HBCU, it's not a very strong one. In the same breath, you can ask her "You're African-American, why do you go to a black church?"
Attending an HBCU "can be" the best four years of your life. Your college experience is what you make it.
Is it the best choice for you? Only you can answer that.
