i am neither light or dark skinned but i have observed some truth to the statement"light skinned people have advantages over dark skinned" people tend to favor light skinned girls especially because they are perceived to be the epitomy of beauty as far as the black race is concerned....although that perception is gradually changing now, its still evident in our culture. Dark skinned girls are automatically labeled as **** and if one were to find a pretty dark skinned girl they would see that as an exception. Fukk a complexion, if a girl is smart, fun to be around and pretty, then shes my type....

People do have preferences even if they don't know it, but until they can look past that, they can NEVER know what's hiding behind a man or woman's face. We as black people are the only ones who really do this. Because we come in such a beautiful array of colors, there a larger pick of what people want. But we as a people shouldn't really be like so self-prejudice (or something like that) when it comes to our own people. We should destroy the colors lines. And even if we prefer a certain shade of creamy blackness we should never discriminate becasue of our preferences.
preach it, bella....u said it, gurl

in not dark-skinned, im in the middle...but i do HAVE NATURAL HAIR....and its not only about light skin vs. dark skin, but the long straight hair vs. natural hair...I always hear guys talk about they want the light skinned girl with the long straight hair...or they "used" to...even on here lol....now im not hating but there are too many beautiful black women out there for this to be such a preference among the majority of black men...the change needs to start in the media because if i see another half-**** light skinned heifa with long hair in a music video/movie i will scream lol...and hopefully this concept will change before my sister hits her teens and fellas it really isnt hating, but if yall saw light skinned brothas everywhere in the media or all the women you met said they "like light-skinned dudes" you would be a bit critical as well.... and wtf is this statement about "she's darker...and pretty"...or "i thought natural hair would make you look like an african :? ??"...duh i am african-american...i would hope to look as black as I can

Yeh i really do think its some truth 2 it... I believe whether guys admit it or not they go to the light skinned girl w/ long hair before they would the darker chick..
I can't say I agree. I am a prime example, sheit I care less about light skinned females, as far as dating, they just don't attract me like darker skinned ladies. And as far as the hair, if it is short or long, as long as it looks good then I am good, my girl got short hair.... But as far as an advantage or disadvantage, sheit I don't know honestly. I seriously think it differs from person to person based on what someone prefers. Cause dark skinned ladies have an advantage than ligh skinned ladies in my book, but for the next male it may differ

If you mean light skinned as in yellow, then Im not into them, it mostly has to do with the majority of their stuck up personalities, since they became over whelmingly "in style" alot of lightskinned ladies (most of them un-justly) have become cocky, feeling as tho they are dymes, based meerly on the color of their skin, or length of their permed hair... I for one, prefer brownskinned women, about the same complextion as myself, I feel me match the best (I've dated a darker skinned girl before)...I just like brown skin, with shoulder length hair...that's pretty to me... But honestly, no matter what color a young lady is, if she's beautiful, and has a personality (looks are 50.9 percent more important to me than personality)..and is equally attracted to me, then I dont care what color she is...
