i had this aurgument with a white friend of mine...
do black people just plain out hate america?
my white friend wa telling me that every political aurgument he gets in with a black peson (besides me of course), they seem every unpatriotic, and demonize america. i tried to point out the fact that a large percentage of blacks have served in the armed forces and in all of our wars...but he slaps me with "oh, they only joined because of thier economic situation, not because they felt it was thier patriotic duty..." he aurgued that blacks are quick to point out what's wrong with america and it's faults, and never seem to want to concentrate on what's right and the much good we have done around the world...
then i thought about it...
hmm...
does this cat actually have a point?
what do you think? do we just hate this country? do you hate this country? if so why? if you love america, represent on this thread too. i know there are some black folk that would die for this land on here, right?

*should i have put that?*
*starts umming black nation ath--- ahem i mean star spangled banner*
hmm...hmmmmm...I dont "hate" America...It's just the way that we think we're so high and mighty and the perfect model of the way a country should be ran then try to correct other countries' problems and we have SO MANY problems here...but I can honestly say that I hate our education system and the fact that so many other countries are more intelligent and advanced than us...and we complain and dont take advantage of what we get...and why is it that everytime someone criticizes America it's so "unpatriotic", this isn't Iraq, I have a right to an opinion
I honestly do not hate America. I don't feel like I could live anywhere else and enjoy the freedoms and opportunities I have here. However, I do not LOVE america either. As stated before, as americans we are quick to assume that we are the greatest, and then meddle in everyone else's affairs before trying to fix our own. America has come a long way, but we still have a long way to go.
Black people dont like America because America has treated them pretty bad, duh. If someone enslaved your a$$ for a few centuries, you wouldn't be the first in line to say you love them, would you? On the other side of things, I don't think blacks should allow that attitude to keep them from achieving; I know for a fact, some of them just settle for alchohol and weed and say, "To hell with academics and social advancement!" (how do you say that in ebonics? )
^^^errrr.....ebonics :?
Anyway, I agree with MOST of the people on here. It's not that Blacks hate this country (we helped to build it), it's just that we won't be so blinded as to disregard it's faults. Some people are so quick to say they will die for this country, but what are we dying for......unbalanced capitalism? .......our social and economical disadvantages? ...... the physical enslavement of our ancestors? .....the mental enslavement we are still in today? Our ancestors helped shape and mold this country into the major world power that it is today. And we should help to continue their work by shaping and molding this country into a world power that EVERYONE can equally benefit from..
^^^ more senseless ranting to me!
you say things are so bad and "fukk white america" (which happens to control nearly every aspect of your life in America, directly or indirectly), well, what do you plan to do about it? using "tough-talk" on a predominantly black forum isn't going to help uplift your people, let alone change the racist climate of this country.
what's next, playa(ebonics)?
Well I am a black person who loves this country. I don't hate it.
It may be influenced by the fact that I come from a military family going back three generations. I've also lived out of the country. . .I think that makes a HUGE difference. Visiting places is great, but actually living there will truly make you appreciate the American experience. The ironic thing is I lived in another western country; but have traveled all over Europe and the Middle East.
I realize that America has it's problems, and I don't turn my cheek to any of this stuff. As a matter of fact, I still "barely" like white people. Call me racist, but hell I tolerate them just like they tolerate me. But we all gotta live, and I ain't going nowhere.
So just to prove your point, and I will stand with white people, Arabic people, Indians, Native Americans, Latinos, Haitians, Irish, and everyone else and sing "And I'm proud to be an American, where at least I know I'm free."
This is my opinion and I stand by it.
there are many non-black people who do not love america. they may even go as far as to say that they hate it. what about them? i agree with what everyone has said here. i just think that everytime a black person says something negative about america it shouldn't automatically become because of their race. African-Americans are just that...AMERICANS. if we don't like something about the way something is being handled in our country and we wanna speak up about it, we should be able to without immediately bein accused of playing the race card.

exactly, we have contributed a lot to american culture, but this country does have a lot of faults and just because someone admits that its not the greatest country in the world doesn't mean that they hate america
