My question for the fellas... Posted on 07-11-2004

Aight I need y'alls help wit this one... My man of 2 1/2 years and I broke up the week before graduation, and his reasoning on why we should break up was that the communication on his part had gone down (which was true) and that his "love for me had decreased gradually over the last few months." I was like WTF is that supposed to mean, and he says that evry time he said "I love you" over the last 6 months (including the night of my b-day, valentines, prom nite, etc.) was all a lie. Now I would like to know what makes a guy say this to his girl, and have you ever said anything to your girl and why.

Well I aint a guy...but I'm guilty of telling a guy I loved him when I didn't. At first I thought I did, but i realized it was infactuation. But I couldn't just tell him that and hurt his feelings so I continued to lie.

***clears throat*** There is two reasons why your now ex boyfriend told you this: REASON 1: He does care about you...even love you..but not in love with you...His communication being down should have suspect from jump...When your partner starts to lose communication with you, there is something seriously wrong..rather a problem at home, school, or another mate...Your relationship was long in high school terms...So, that mean that he did not want to hurt you by telling you the truth and thought he could weather the storm...or start feeling that way about you again...Maybe he even questioned himself...In the end though, he did what was right...He was honest...Even if he lied..Which he didn't, he was just confused... REASON 2: Another female...or the want to be alone...single...Most males go through a phase that they want to test the waters...Don't wish to be tied down...He probably do love you but rather break up with you than to hurt you or...has already cheated on you and wants to leave before the dirt comes back on him

wow.... good question.... the reason why this happened is mainly b/c the lack of communication... he prolly figured since the communication level is gone down, and you goin off to school in a different state, there's no point in continuing this... y'all are not just growing up, but y'all were growing apart. the love in his eyes just wasn't there, and he could've simply said that he loved you but he's not in love with you anymore.... sayin the last part about lying about it was over the top... i would let your healing process go ahead and take its course, do what you gotta do to get over it, and move on... your goin off to college, and you gonna be in Florida, and you'll have plenty of time to move on and find somethin better for you 8)

its happened to me before... like as the relationship progressed, our communication was actually regressing, and i was starting to feel as we were growing apart. the only times we would talk is when she was upset about something and a few other instances- i would never lie 2 anyone who i professed 2 be going with, so i flat out told her that my love for her was dying. her response was similar to yours, except for the fact she threatened **** if i broke up with her. she didnt do it, but that whole **** episode made me REALLY not wanna get back with her.

I have. Maybe the love that y'all had, at least in his eyes, was fading. Thsi could of happened through too many aruments, not enough time, or something else that just brewed for awhile.
