I was reading a few of the posts and I recognized people had RIP Mr. Smart. I would like to send my condolences to his family and all that knew him. Reading one of the footnotes of a post really touched me because it read " The man who cared when no on else did" and that is the truth. I had only met Mr. Smart in person one time when he came to my high school in South Central Los Angeles to hear & see me play. I told him how I had no money to go to school and he told me that wasn't a problem. Even when I decided to attend Tuskegee instead of Hampton he continued to keep in touch always making some type of joke about Tuskegee and how Hampton was the mother of my institution (it was in all fun & games). I still have the tapes that he sent me in 2000 of Hampton vs. Norfolk in the battle of the Bands. As far as I knew he was a wonderful, caring, and funny man and he will surely be missed. I will never forget him and may his soul RIP.
