heres the email I got about it:
Quote:
The following is an email sent to you by an administrator of "HBCUCONNECT.COM". If this message is spam, contains abusive or other comments you find offensive please contact the webmaster of the board at the following address: staff@hbcu-central.com Include this full email (particularly the headers). Message sent to you follows: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Yo, my message board peoples... Much love to you first of all for joining in on the discussions, adding value to the website, and for expressing yourselves as HBCU recruts, students, graduates and supporters. Much respect goes out to you. We started HBCU-CENTRAL.COM in the summer of 1999, simply because we thought it would be a great idea, and we had a vision for what we thought the website could potentially become and what it could mean to us as African Americans. Well we did it, and thanks to your support for the site (by visiting us and our sponsors) we've come a very long way very quickly. In January of this year we were in negotiations to acquire the domain "HBCUCENTRAL.COM" without the dash or '-' character from a company in New York that actually owns that domain name but they are not currently using it. They agreed to sell us the name, but then backed out on the deal once they found out that we were running hbcu-central.com and hbcucareerCenter.com websites. Having the 'dash' in hbcu-central.com has been confusing to people and something hard to remember for others, especially in casual conversation. So please show us some love and support in this move that will represent bigger and better things to come for us as the original HBCU Online Community! You guys/gals on the message boards are the first to be officially notified of this name change because, well, from the way I see it you guysdeserve to know first based on how well you have received what we've done this far with HBCU-CENTRAL.COM. So please show us some support in this transition from hbcu-central.com to HBCUCONNECT.COM - Still The Original HBCU Mega Site! Think of it as HBCU-CENTRAL.COM on ****! Holla at me with any comments and ideas on how we can get the name out, especially on your college campuses! Thanks and much love to you... William R. Moss III President/CEO HBCUConnect.com wrmoss@hbcu-central.com Hampton University c/o 1995
